2257? and online sigs?
Please please lets not start another nightmare thread on 2257. I just have a quick question. My programmer is currently setting up my site so any of the models who sign up will be required to upload 2 picture ID's, fill out a form regarding their personnal info ie address, real name etc. A model release form and a contract. My question here is; are online signatures valid in a court of law? Im searching online and the info I'm finding is vauge, some sites saying yes, others saying no. All this info would be written to my DB along with everytime a girl uploads an image, it would write a copy of that image to the db, along with dates etc. I do not want to purchase any of the 2257 software out there as they seem to be over kill for my needs. Any ideas on this? Thanks, Jugg..

Invest in a lawyer & ask them.

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button
|
do what greenguy said, contact a lawyer... that's the only way to be safe

Yup, pay for the right advice for your situation. However, my gut tells me that online signatures are nothing more than smoke and pixels and the answer to that question is probably pretty predictable

Yeah pay a lawyer to have him tell you to have your models print out the filled in form, sign it and snail mail it to you. And after you open it, but before you file it away, staple the envelope to it. Mail me $250.

Clinton brought in the electronic signature law, but it seems to be more geared to commerce & contracts, rather than verification. Other companies will not pay a performer, or let her perform at all until they have received a snail mailed copy. Obviously consult a lawyer, but hard copies will help you to sleep better at night, and we all love getting stuff in the mail :-)

A faxed signature has been repeatedly established as legal in a court of law for other transactions.
I am not a lawyer, but it's something to think about.

The law only requires one photo ID, btw. An electronically signed model release is not going to be valid though.
