Iframes and cookies
I'm doing some work on one of my mainstream sites at the moment and am currently contemplating the following question, which would apply equally to adult.
If I load a sponsors site (using my referral code) in an iframe on my site will that be enough to drop the sponsors cookie on the surfers machine so they are flagged as my referral if they subsequently visit the site and buy something? I'm kind of thinking "no", that they would need to actually click through using my code but cant quite get my head round it. |

Took the hint.

iframes do allow for cookies from the sponsor. Iframes are popular in the non-adult world, but pretty much death in the adult world.
Remember that you do no control the content of that iframe - and that can mean anything up to spyware, hacks, and viruses. Be very careful who you allow to be in your on site iframes. Alex |

Don't forget that loading something in an iframe on your server makes you responsible for 2257 documentation on everything that appears in that iframe.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
In this case I am selling a restaurant discount card run by a friend of mine. The list of venues is very dynamic so an Iframe of his page means I dont have to change my page every week. If it also sets a few more cookies for those that may not click through, but find the sponsor site by a different route later, then that's a definite secondary bonus. So no worries with 2257 or the content changing to something dodgy in this case. But I do agree, probably best to avoid in adult. |
