feeling a bit better
|
I've just been diagnosed...
Hey Everyone...
Just got the word from the doctor today and I have HPylori - again. Did some more research on it and I must admit that I am not impressed at all. Anyhow, I have to go get the prescription filled out today, go over with the gastro-enterologist regarding a dietary change and what not. If any of you out there have had this affliction or know of someone that's had it and BEATEN it, I really would like to know about it. Its really put a damper on my Christmas; my folks are really concerned as is my girlfriend and my closest friends too. |

Many people in my family have ulcers and I don't think its anything major as long as you take care of it. There are so many different ways people deal with their ulcers. Sometimes stress causes them to flare up, othertimes its food. According to stuff i know its a bacteria and ulcers can sometimes be caused from long term use of Ibuprofen and stuff.
I know my uncle drinks a glass of milk when his causes him problems. Just watch your diet, and do what the dietician and gastro guys tell ya and you should be all set. Andy |

The Bitch has had ulcers for years - started off on Prilosec & now she's on a different purple pill. She had a lot when she was diagnosed, but the last time they looked, most were cleared up & the rest were a lot smaller.
So there is hope for ulcers |

My brother had a horrible time with ulcers when he was in the sixth grade. Back then he had to take a lot of Maalox. He's 36 now and I haven't heard him complain about ulcers in years. I just did some light googling on H Pylori. If you can kill the bacteria with antibiotics and not get it again, your current ulcers should heal over time. The real problem is figuring out where you picked up the bacteria in the first place. Good luck to you.

I had ulcers for years (diagnosed as peptic) and did a lot of diet changes, and popping all kinds of pills for it.
One day I went to a good internal med Dr and she put me on an antibiotic (and no alcohol) for 15 days - that was 12 years ago - I have not felt an ulcer pain or upset stomach since (well other than the idiotic things I eat now that cause me an occasional upset stomach that is usually connected to too much food or too much of something else) |

About 5 years ago I had a pretty serious ulcer. They stuck a camera down my throat to take pictures of it. I saw burn marks in my throat and my stomach.
They put my on Prilosec and a simple diet. After about 6 weeks I was fine and don't seem to have any recurring issues. Some things I learned. 1. Espresso has a lot less acid then regular coffee 2. Dairy products can mess some people up bad 3. Over eating sends acid upwards into your throat 4. For whatever reason lemons can be good but other citric including tomatoes can be bad 5. Adding raw olive oil to your diet helps digestion immensely The most important thing I learned. Most antacids suck and in fact some schools of thought think they can cause damage if used regularly. However, Guiness Stout works wonders and even my strict Japanese doctor could not come up with a good reason why I shouldn’t drink 1 or 2 when the ulcer was acting up |

I want to live. I want to experience the universe, and I want to eat pie.

Lay off the booze & ciggies (if you partake) and indulge in a daily diet of Pepto Bismol and Prilosec. Increase Folic Acid intake (you can get a supplement cheap pretty much anywhere; we use a store brand B-complex with C and FA). Avoid overly spicy foods (medical info doesn't back me up on this, but personal experience does).
If all else fails, listen to Sir Moby. |

With the right medication and diet you will be fine. You'll forget you even had the problem. Proper diet is most important ... and yah, you have to lay off alcohol. The odd beer now and then won't hurt though.
Best of luck to you. And Merry Christmas |
