Redoing an old site penalty
I have a semi-adult orientated site I put up with a kit about two years ago. The whole thing is done with php which until I finish my class in december I know nothing about. I've done absolutely nothing with it since I put it up. My thinking lately is to redo it to my liking and actually make it functional. My stats show about 250-300 uniques a month from Yahoo and now in the last few months Google. People are obviously looking.
Now the question is..........if I go and revamp the content......and there really isn't a ton of pages I want to put up. Each will be about a certain topic related to the main niche and some affiliate links. Will this revamp drop me to the back of the line. I know sites revamp all the time, but I'm not familiar if there are any safeguards to do first. The site looks rediculous so it does need a change and I'd like to try and capitalize on the fact the domain has been around a while. Thanks |

That's not enough traffic to concern yourself with. Go ahead and make it a better site and don't worry about losing 250 monthly hits that may not even be searching for what the site will have when you're finished.

I agree with UW.
Think of how much traffic you won't get if you don't develop the site further. Doubtless, what you could get is far more then what you have now.

Thanks UW and Virgo. I'll just go and make my changes.
Much appreciated! |

I've just put up my site www.lesbian-seduction-guide.com three weeks ago and I would be happy to have 250-300 visitors a month. I really need to learn how to kick start a site. I took some advice from soulman on optimising sites, which was relevant.
As my site is clean, I also took another route by listing it on sites such as gumtree. I did this because it worked well for a techie site of mine, which I tuned finely around a couple of keywords. My techie's site URL is now on the first page when searching for these keywords with Google. The URL for the above site is not yet on the first page, but at least a reference to it is already there. |

You can now put whatever you want in this space :)

I'd be amazed if 1/10000 people make it to the "click here" link.
