Porn Is Like Crack

Hi there everyone! Apparently I am addicted to running a porn site in some way, shape, or form. I decided to go against the concept of trying to run a link list or tgp site again, and am not planning on building galleries either. I went for the forum concept. Not sure how I am going to make $$$ with it. I'm figuring maybe after it grows substantially (not even sure how I am going to accomplish that), but maybe sell advertising space. Until then I am just throwing up some sponsor banners, and maybe get a couple sales that way. There is a young lady from my area who is starting to make a name for herself in the business, so I'm hoping maybe we can work out some type of partnership.
Any ideas? Site is in my signature.

Like the page design but:

1. You need a better first page after the warn. What I got was a page asking me to sign up for a free account. You must first show your surfers what the boards look like (perhaps without posting privileges). Never, ever, ask them to sign up before letting them see the site. You just look like an email harvester. You will get about 99% of surfers running away with this first page. Worse, those that do sign up will mostly be idiots, and your boards will be full of moronic posts that will scare people off. You need to go directly from the warn page to http://harrybeaverslodge.com/board/index.php

2. And when someone does try to sign up, it doesn't work! I filled in my details and got a blank page. Trying to log in with the details I gave it just got me an "unknown account" error. If this is not a script error, then it may be a hardware issue. Boards are heavy CGI users, and if you don't have a powerful enough server they fuck up under heavy load and simply fail to execute commands.

3. You are aware that when you run a board you have to post constantly yourself to keep them going aren't you? That is even more important on a start up board. I mention this because there appear to have been no posts yesterday and only one on Saturday. There should have been a minimum of one on every single board on every single day from you. If you don't post like mad, no one else will, and the board will fail.

4. Be aware the board will need constant policing or it will be used to share content rips, file sharing, and illegal stories ("how I raped my twelve year old daughter" type thing).

Oh and:
5. When I closed the window with your site on it I noticed that it was simply giving the message "Sorry, you have reached the limit as a guest". WTF???!!!! Basically you are telling prospective members "We are an unfriendly lot round here, so you won't like the board. And anyway, since we are so desperate to get you to sign up we probably only want your email address to sell to spammers anyway".

P.S. Sorry, didn't mean to come over so negative. Your site does look good, it just needs a few tweaks to stop it scaring away new members.

Thanks for the feedback. Especially about the registration page! It worked the last time I tested it, so going to have to figure out what is going on there. That would probably explain the decline in registrations!

I took you suggestions and implemented them, and hopefully the registration is now fixed. Had to rebuild php to get it to work.

Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like women. You just have to read the manual and press the right button

Seems to work now. I joined.

1 thing you could do as well, Is sign up for AEBN and set up a theater with the same background and logo as your forum. Create a CNAME record like (premium or vod) and point it to your theater address. Make it look like the theater is a part of your site.

Use Greenie as a referral, if you decide to do it.
