1) You obviously have some problem with me and I don't for the life of me even remember what it's about. But if there was some issue I'd love the opportunity to correct it. 2) My "hidden agenda" is I like to get people to click on my sig and I feel it's better for business if I post something useful rather than just babble on about inane shit. Since I am offering consulting services it helps to show that I'm actually spending time thinking about what works for people. I'm going away this weekend so I may not get the chance to respond until next week so please don't flame me or say I'm avoiding you if you don't hear back right away. Or read your PM and give me a phone call like I mentioned. The last thing I want is someone out there thinking I wronged them especially when I don't even know WTF it's about.

Meanwhile, back somewhat on topic...
I am okay with graphics and stuff, a bit of design but I am not a 100% top guy... so I have a couple of projects I am working on, a couple of ideas, so rather than lose a couple of days struggling to get the results I want and still missing by a bit, I have put two contracts out to people who have experience in what I am looking for. I will be truly interested to see what the end results are if any. I also redesigned one of my sites today to get more attention from a certain search eingine (not google, but google may enjoy the changes as well). Making those changes took some time, but I couldn't exactly sub that out to anyone, because it is about attempting to apply what I know to a situation... and much of that is feeling rather than hard and fast rules. So no way I can sub that out. Knowing when you are over your head is a good thing... Alex |

Maybe my distrust for consultants come from me being one in my past life Then our code of ethics forbid solicitation, which was a good thing because solicitation bred distrust in a professional relationship. Off to whoop the staff into firing up their T1 connections to spam for a tidal wave of new business. Think I will pop some corn also. |

Chop, that is the reason I am walking into this very carefully and dealing with two different people on small projects... I want to see how they can handle it, and then I might give them more to do in the future as things work out. I have seen way to many "consultants" out there that really didn't have a clue, and that scares me no end.
I would rather fuck it up myself than pay someone else to fuck it up for me without telling me. Alex |

Gave the outsourcer a fairly large project all at once, although it was all grunt work. Little did I know, he didn't even know how to freakin code. Did everything in DW with the end result being that he'd completely trashed the tight code I gave him to start from. Lesson learned... Definitely start em off small and get a taste first |

With $10,000, we'd be millionaires! We could buy all kinds of useful things like ... love!
|
This is my biggest weakness as a business owner. I *want* to do everything myself, even if I don't know how to do it yet, even if it will take me much longer, even if I won't do it as well as a professional. I love the challenge of learning new things & obviously I'm a bit of a control freak too.

Wheither you think you can or you think you can't, Your right.

I have to chime in that it's really hard to find people that will even do the work in the first place. I've had a few people that that just did'nt work, a big reason at times that I dont want to hire more. It's amazing to me, so many people say they need money, they are broke, ect, ect, but they DONT want to work! Course probably the reason they dont have money in the first place. Not the case for every one or a generalization, just see it far to often.

I'm not sure if it's the remote nature of the work situation or what, but getting people to do the job you pay them to do seems more of a hassle then just doing it yourself. |

Interestingly, one of the two things happened so fast I wasn't really ready for it yet... the other one I have seen part done and it was heading in the right direction so I am hopeful.
However, I will say that there are probably a dozen people who were interested in at least part of it, and they had no hope... so we will see. Alex |
