Is it Possible to change sponsor after getting listed?

Hi,
I had a free site listed few months back and later I found that the sponsor is no more alive. I just left it as it is. Now last week, I got a site listed with DD, GG , Cleo and others and have been getting more than 1000 hits a day. But my sponsor click throughs are less than 50. When I contacted my webmaster friends, they all had cautioned me against the particular sponsor I used.

Now is it ok, to just change the sponsor with out changing anything else?
I remeber Cleo had said once that, it is ok, as long as you don't touch the content. How about others? Because if you are using script to check the sites (like TGps), then there are chances that, I will get blacklisted for changing the HTML aslo, since the scripts don't see the site like human eyes.
I don't intent to change anything unless its perfectly ok for you. Waiting for your opinions.

I wouldn't mind as long as the rules are still being obeyed. Of course I don't know how others feel exactly.

However... the old saying "build and forget" applies to almost any case. Of course if your sponsor is dead there is no need to send traffic into limbo. I think everybody will agree that you should change your links.

But if it is just a "poor" performing sponsor... forget about it. That sponsor might be converting like crazy next month

Doesn't matter to me. As long as the site still meets the guidlines, you can change the sponsors as often as you like.

Thanks for that info. Ok, I will just forget it. But in fact it doen't seems like a poor performing sponsor, rather a cheating sponsor. Anyway unless, I don't have solid proof (which is very difficult to get) I don't want to name the sponsor. But beware we webmasters are networking, so if a sponsor tries to play nasty we will spread it immediately.
There are lot of good sponsors out there.

Rather than worry about it build another site.

It is ok to change banners and text links on sites as long as you do not up the total links out count for a page.

Thanks for your replies. I would like to follow the old rule of build & forget. But just want to get your guide lines about that, in some worst cases. Nice to see that, you guys are webmaster friendly.
