Print adult community journals/mags
In an effort to expand on my already enormous depth of knowledge concerning our community, I am in search of more journals in print. I already receive Xbiz-World and Klixxx magazines. Are there others out there that those of you who occasionally walk away from your computers have stumbled upon?
BTW - I just read yesterday that Kath from Klixxx said that once you subsribe, you get it forever. Cool beans.

Greenguy is right the AVN Online mag is pretty good sometimes, but watch out if you recieve their regular videonews mag. The thing weighs a ton.

Getting a subscription to AVN is like getting teeth pulled. We have tried to get a subscription to them for at least 3 years and finally said fuck it and stopped trying. Then all the sudden we started to receive them out of the blue, 3 months before we moved.
And even though we have received every thing else that is sent to the old address we have not received a copy since we moved. So I once more went to the AVN and subscribed and even sent them the fax they now require, and still nothing. Xbiz we receive, no idea why, must have been the wife who did it. I forgot about Klixx, so I will look it over later today. |

RE: "I am in search of more journals in print." What , you mean there are magazines that are already printed out on paper for you so you don't have to download them and print them out yourself? Cool idea. Who thought of that ?

They have the Internet on computers, now?
|
AVN & AVNOnline Magazine
As a writer for AVNOnline magazine I would like to point out that the online edition and the print edition are very different things.
While they do sometimes cross over and print the same stories in both places, the print edition often has many different articles than the online editions. Many of my articles have appeared in the print edition, and a few of those have appeared online as well. The print edition is great to have as it is an actual magazine. "Ads" are a necessary thing to make the magazine free to qualified trade. And, if you are qualified trade, then many of those ads should be just what you are looking for. Since it's not available to consumers, the magazine is very good when it comes to targeted stories and advertising. AVN magazine is more of the "adult movie industry" side of things. It is written by a completely different editorial staff, and focuses on different topics. It's also readily available to the public. It's also, as someone said, PACKED with ads. Personally, I feel AVNOnline is a better magazine, but I could be biased. :-) If you sign up for it, you will get it. since it's free, the price is right as well. |

I feel strongly they need a better program for getting the magazine to qualified subscribers. As a trade journal it should be free to webmasters etc. Qualified subscribers = higher advertising revenues = better magazine with more articles. Simple formula they seem to have trouble grasping. Of course they need to qualify you in order for your readership to have value to them and their advertisers. |

Hmmmmm....I don't believe so....
Now get this.....there is me, Eric j. White who writes for AVNOnline, and yes, believe it or not, there is/was (was I think) an Eric Black, a completely different dude, that also writes/wrote for AVNOnline. A few months back there was a massive "change" in the editorial staff at AVN Online which is why I'm not sure if the other guy is still there or not. But I don't recall writing about you. I might have though. How long ago? I've been writing for about 4 years now. |

I'll leave this offer open ALL WEEK (until next Monday morning) so get those requests into me now. No I have not because this FREE VIP Subscription offer is for GreenguyandJim.com webmasters only. Klixxx Magazine is a subscription-only magazine for a number of reasons. Other industry-based magazines end up getting a lot of non-industry folks receiving their magazines when they are FREE. Especially in the adult online industry, that's not something we want nor something we want to encourage. Hence the nominal subscription fee. $9.95/Lifetime (US subscribers - see site for breakdown to other countries) doesn't even cover postage, etc. - but it benefits many things - 1) that the subscriber is an adult webmaster or is working in the adult online industry 2) that the subscriber actually WANTS the magazine and isn't being "joke subscribed" by a friend and 3) that our readership WANTS to receive our magazines and isn't being plummeted with issues from addresses snagged by some webmaster mailing list grabbed from show registrations or affiliate program listings. It's a fine line between wanting to make sure that all industry pros are receiving Klixxx Magazine - because it IS a magazine written by webmasters FOR webmasters.... not simply a bunch of hired writers writing on topics they don't understand for a community they don't even belong to... however - in the same breath we want to make sure that ONLY industry professionals receive our magazine. A mainstream magazine that I used to receive recently stopped production. Why? Because it was discovered by advertisers that over 50% of its readership was non-industry "surfer" types. Why would you give away all of your doorway, circle jerk or traffic herding secrets to the surfer? True - they can read these message boards (and they DO at a certain industry giant, and post as well!) - but why would you want your ads and articles going out to non-industry folks. If the readership is at 50k yet 25k of those eyeballs are surfers, then what are you paying for? ROI is a HUGE concern (finally!) in today's market - and Klixxx is responding by ensuring that our magazine is a true TRADE magazine and is distributed to industry professionals that are actively working within the industry. Sorry for the long post to explain - I hope I expressed this sufficiently to respond to the question about why we do not just freely distribute subscriptions everywhere. GG&J is a quality WEBMASTER business board - this is why we chose to offer this deal openly on this board to posting members. Thanks and |Jim for allowing me to get this message out.
