I got called in and had to stand in the jury box and answer questions from the Judge as well as both sides lawyers. I was only 18 at the time and was quite nervous.

I eventually said something that someone didn't like and was cut.

Oh well.

I've been called for duty a few times and really its pretty simple to get out of. Just cater your answers to any questions so that they simply don't want you...for example: If its a hold-up case, just say that you were once held up as a gas station cashier and you're pretty biased now against anybody accused of that crime. You feel that more than likely they are guilty.
or
say it were a medical malpractice case, just say that you are convinced that the doctors were totally responsible for your grandmother's death years ago due to negligence and ever since you believe ALL doctors are guilty of shoddy care, etc etc

You can quickly come up with a reason to describe yourself as a prior victim to a similar set of circumstances---and the judge often sees right thru this and knows what you're doing----but you are still not the type of person they want on the jury.
So far, its worked every time.

We don't have jurys here, but I was a witness once.

After five years I witnessed a fight in a bar I found two pissed off nazis from my door. Mr. Policemen were pissed off because they had tried to find me a whole week. I ran multiple companies, so I wasn't in home very often. Those bozos would find me if they'd had brains enough to visit my companies.

Well, they let me read what I had witnessed five years ago, and that's that, but I knew they hated me and they treated me like criminal. I didn't cared. It must have been my big leather sofas and chairs, top notch hi-fis and tv and video. That was before home theaters.

Well, I went to the court and spent there a whole day. I read my witness document again, then they asked me two (!) questions and that was that. Government paid me appr. $50 for a day's work.

Teached me to act as witness, but at that first time I cannot help it. I was in a bar and drunken punk started to fight with waitress. Nobody wanted to help so I had to. It's unwritten law that you don't hit women and children. I kept that punk in floor until police came. I didn't hit him, just keep him in floor. If I had hit him, I would be in court too, we have this crazy law.

That's enough court for me for a life.
