PLease dont remove my links or free sites. My server is down, just woke up and looks like its been down all night, talking to tech support to figure out what the fuck is going on. Just gotta fucking love days when you wake up and all your shits been down all night.

Does anyone know of a Windows program that can be sheduled to ping a server and (maybe) sound an audible alarm if there's no response? I'd love something like that.

They seem to think mysql crashed the server, so whatever that means and how long its gonna take to get back up I am still waiting on. Guess they are working on it. In their little IRC tech support chat one of them to talk to me, then go off to my server.

One of them just told me they are FSCKing the sever. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. God damn this server shit can really ruin your day before it even starts.

Well they just told me that after working on my server that it turns out the server is basically shot, I have (and a few others) noticed that its been running kind of slow lately. Right now as I am typing this they are transferring me over to a whole new and upgraded server. So hopefully I will be back up soon and faster than before.

Looks like it was drive going bad

Its unfortunately going to be a while still. They are in the process of recovering everything from the bad drive. The tech guy is telling me the only stuff that seems to be messed up is the apache stuff, so they are manually reinstalling all that. Says that so far all the content seems to be coming back fine, so hopefully I dont have any problems with losing stuff.

If anything as far as free sites doesnt get recovered I have all those on my computer and can upload all of them again. So please just bare with me on this and PLEASE dont remove my links. I am very very sorry for all of this. Didnt know I was waking up to a fucking nightmare today.

This has been one of those days where you just wanna scream FUCK LIFE and beat the holy fuck out of everything you can get your hands on. Quite possibly one of the worst days of my life as far as my online business goes. As of now at least all my free sites are back up and working fine.

The problem is with my link list, the mysql database for my link list script out of all the 100's of thousands of files that are on that motherfucking server, is one of the few files that seem to be corrupted. So as of now on my link list all my free sites, paysites, and link trades on my category pages are gone. The index and submit pages are fine, its just the category pages.

I guess this is where I learn my lesson about backing shit up. Funny thing is I have been meaning to get ahold of the x power link guys to ask them which files I need to save for a back up, but had been putting off because I was "too busy". They sound like there is still a chance they can recover the database. So I am gonna give them until tomorrow afternoon, if they still havent been able to recover the database I will start readding everything myself. Hopefully I will be able to get everything added in by viewing the cached versions of the pages in yahoo and google.

As for the mysql, if you can get the raw mysql files (corrupted or not) and have a 'fresh' install of your script, you can probably surgically replace the .frm files, run myisamchk -O (safe recover) and probably get back most of the data built from the .MYI & .MYD files. Sector errors on disks usually don't wipe out too much, depending on your hosting company and the filesystem they use (probably ext3), the metadata should be there to construct the actual file chain. You shouldn't be too bad off.

Alternatively, its possible that the links are there, but, your category table that knows what the categories are is broken. So, its possible that you could repair that which would automatically allow those subpages to be created. You'll definitely want to get the software vendor contacted to see if they have any quick tricks to get you running again.

When I moved to a new script a while back, there were some 'issues' with the db. My host was able to massage things enough to get it working again. Perhaps all is not lost on your end...fingers crossed for ya

Just letting everyone know about my link list moviefuckfest.com.

Unfortunately all my data is lost, and after fighting with it all day any my tech people there is nothing I can do other than ask for some patience from my link partners, and apologize to my submitters.

Here is the plan. Tonight before I go to bed I will get all the categories in place, this way at least every single category url will be working. Then I will be spending every minute I possibly can adding all my link trades back into the category pages, this may take a while, but I will aim to have all my link partners up by the end of the week.

To my submitters, I am very truely sorry for your troubles, and any hastle I may be causing you. Any site that you have ever submitted to me feel free to resubmit. The link list is still getting just as much traffic as before, but just with less links, so it would be worth your while to get your sites back up. I know as a daily submitter myself this is truely a huge pain in the ass for you guys and I give you all my sincere apologies.

I guess I am glad this happened now rather than 2 years down the road, I have learned some very valuable lessons to not ever allow this to happen again, and I get to streamline the whole site a little bit. Again I apologize to all you and I am gonna be working my balls off to get things back up.
