The amount of grief they give me for using XP, it would be nice if I could get back at them for using outdated scripts! (All my scripts are bang up to date, because I write them myself and update them as needed.) |

As for Pagan, that's great as I just noticed the submit page had changed when doing some submits this morning. Yes, I still submit to PL thru that page to put my galleries with a PL recip on it in queue with others. |

We still use TGPx and LinkAdmin because they have been in use on our lists for several years. My install goes back to 2012 and I know Greenie's Link Admin is much older. (His Sunshine Lesbians is also older than mine). Now, if they had continued to update the link list/TGP programs there would be no issue. Some have stepped forward and helped us make the minor changes on TGPx for the newer operating systems and servers. I think the total changes I made to Porn Luv's master files covered less than 100 keystrokes over 5 different files so it is not seriously broken. Newer scripts are all directed at tubes, which we are not. TGPx can be cranky at times but it does work even in our "modern" environment. It is still much newer than XP, which came out in 2001. I bought my TGPx from the original developer in 2011 and it was current for its time.
I am not a programmer or coder, though I do write all my HTML by hand in Notepad and know my way around php. I don't pretend to be one either. Would I try to write a script like this? No. I know my limits. I want things to work within a reasonable time (like a week) without getting nasty notes from my host. Not all webhosts like to deal with these scripts and do put up obstacles like not letting you create databases or add users. We got around that part and learned to deal with the rest. Even with all the bumps, PornLuv was up and having galleries loaded in just about 2 weeks (including waiting on trouble tickets, 3 server moves, and research).

And the only time I have ever had a script do really bad things it was a bought script. I had a "email your friends and tell them about this site" script on one of my non-adult sites. Because it was a commercially available script, someone had bought a copy and disassemble it to work out how to use it to send spam. They then set up their own program to spam people via my website, the host got spam complaints and, assuming it was me doing the spamming, disabled the entire domain. That finally put me off ever using bought scripts again. The extra work writing the script myself is worth it for the peace of mind in knowing that won't happen again. P.S. It is so long since we've had a two page thread, I did not see these posts until just now. Didn't think to look for page two! |
