Excerpt with Thumb
On one of my blogs i am trying to set it up so it shows excerpts on the main page but with a little thumb for each post, thumb of the picture used in the post. I know WP makes the thumb, it's in my upload directory, but getting it to work with my theme, I can't seem to get it.
I know I can do this by setting it up when I write the post, but I don't want to go back and have to edit old posts. I looked through a couple themes that do this, but can't seem to get it to work on the theme I am using. I'm sure I am missing some little thing, usually the case. I've also spent quite some time searching the WP site but can't seem to find the answer. Any suggestions? |

I'm not sure but I think it has to do with which template tag your using in your loop. If your using
Code:
<?php the_excerpt(); ?> I think what you want to use is Code:
<!--More--> I'm not sure cause I've never tried it so in case I'm wrong here is where I got my information from |

See, thats the rub, I'd like to keep from going back in and editing every old post. Of course it only matters for the posts on the main page, but I might be using this else where.
I have a couple theme's I've downloaded that do this, I guess i just need to dig in and figure it out. Thanks for the reply though.. |

Don't know if you still around much but with a little luck you'll still get e-mail alerts...probably not though.
Anyway I ran across this plugin today that will do the trick for you, Advanced Excerpts |

I really like that plug-in, it does give you much more control over the excerpt. The only thing, it doesn't say anything about images, that was what I was really looking for. I will try this out though, it has some nice features. Thank you! |

It does pass the image tag. I'm using it on Porn Blog Surfer if an image is at the beginning of the post (first 300 characters) the image becomes a part of the excerpt.
