Stupid risks make life worth living

How do you choose your sponsors?
Do you carefully inspect their program and research them? Do you just take referrals from friends? Or do you just pick them at random?
I am in the position to be looking for several new sponsors I haven't used before for a project I'm working on and I don't just want to pick them out of the blue. I would like to have some sort of method to my madness. How do you choose which sponsors to promote? NOTE: This is not a "spam me with" thread. I'm not looking for sponsor programs to come in and provide links, I am looking for unbiased opinions of how to choose the right sponsor. Also not looking for answers like "Blah Blah works good for me, try them".

I'll pretty much try any program for a little bit, but I do ask around for opinions & look at the program 1st before I sign up.

I've tried several different methods. I recommend trying a sponsor and seeing if 1.) they convert and 2.) they pay for yourself. I know friends of mine who hate some of the sponsors I use and and I hate some of theirs because of conversions, which is really different traffic.
Bottom line just because a friend does well or doesn't do well has little to do with how you market to your traffic. HTH |

well first I see if its in the boards resources and then ask my fellow friends and then look at the tour and join and if I dont like the exit consoles, I just dont plain promote..
And while I am in a bad mood I will complain about sponsors that have bad ratios, bull shit sound when you go to there site that almost blows your woofer, just dont convert, excessive exit bull shit, they want to install stuff, no support or a month later shit, Sponsors that dont pay other webmasters and owners that think they are god or have something stuck up there ass.. And could go on like ones that spam there own web masters - Will be deleting a few sponsors and quit promoting a few.. Last edited by plateman; 2004-09-01 at 09:40 PM.. |

I look at the content to begin. If it looks like it might convert I check to see if they use CCBill. If they do, I'll signup and then email the webmaster for content that I can use. If they can provide members access to their page, I can select the content on my own. Then I begin to promote them around and see what kind of conversions I get. If things work well I continue to promote them regularly.
I like to look around a members area to see if the site is worth promoting. If there is limited content, I won't bother with it. I don't want someone to join a site based on something I promote and not feel as though they have gotten their monies worth. I do the same with my program. We offer tons of content and want our affiliates to know that they can stand behind our product. |

I check the sites first. If they have something I like I sign-up. If they only have general/teen porn sites I don't usually bother to promote, as that's not my cup of tea. I'm ready to try almost everything except straight hardcore and teens if sponsor don't have bad name at boards.
I also like CC Bill as check comes every Monday and it has all of my CC Bill sponsor's sign-ups from one week. I must pay 11 euros for every check I cash so bigger the better. I'm always ready to test crazy ideas too, like I built a site for Boy Knights, gay site that has photo and video sets of knights having sex, but, as I wrote before, I have no luck with gay, no sign-ups yet. Maybe I must try Girl Knights, lol!

And Lord, we are especially thankful for nuclear power, the cleanest, safest
energy source there is. Except for solar, which is just a pipe dream |
First i check the sites and if they offer promo content... CCbill sponsors are great.. the biggest problem is to find a good converting unknown sponsor... coz if they#re overused I'll get no listings

I pay special attention to GG's Stats , mostly because I know they're 100% legit and if it works for his link list it'll work in some degrees for mine.
So far that's proven to work well because the sponsors that convert for the green giant are converting for my traffic Quote:
I mean honestly the list is pretty extensive of things I go for, but... in the end the one thing that matters to me most is 1) Is a webmaster i trust using them as a sponsor 2) Is their reputation solid. Am i going to find a thread on this board shitting all over them about something? Downtime, redirected links, miscalculated numbers, possible shaving... anything like that. So, like I said... I'm likely to use a program that's advertising here or is in GG's stats just because I know if they're paying someoen i know and trust, that probably means I can trust them to pay me too Last edited by Boogie; 2004-09-02 at 01:21 PM.. |

I do all of the mentioned above and I also throw a search for the specific sponsors name on the webmaster boards I frequently visit and check what the majority of people feel about them and their services. Usually does the trick
