Paying for content
Hello,
I've been running a couple celeb websites that have been fairly easy to update. But I want to expand and put up a few other pay websites that aren't celebrity based. Maybe some webcam sites, amateur websites, that sort of thing. For obvious reasons I can't actually make the content myself, so I'm looking into actually paying for the content. I'm hoping people can share their experiences with paying for content and if maybe there's something I should watch out for. The obvious worries I have are cost and the actual level of regularly updated content they can provide. Thanks, -Sergio |

There are many many content providers and they all have specials on from time to time. Look for specials otherwise don't buy. Right now most are hurting so you should have no problems getting some deals.
Do a search on this board for content providers and you'll find a lot. |

I've noticed that a lot of 'pay for content' providers have some surprising prices. Like 30 bucks for just one short video clip, or the same for 25 pictures. Definitely a huge change from the world of celebs where I'm used to adding a ton of content everyday. Doing so with paying for content would bankrupt me fairly quickly. I guess I need to research both pay for content providers and how to make it work for me. Time to use this nogin of mine I guess. I was half expecting a sort of subscription based content provider that gave access to regularly updated content, rather than paying individually for everything.

yeah, well, since all celeb content is essentially stolen it does seem to be free.
Buying content from providers has been a rapidly changing picture these last few years. Shop around, you will find it cheaper. Buying content to make free sites/affiliate sites may not be cost effective now. |

Right, not much point in paying for content for a free website. I'm curious how often people update their pay websites with pay content. I assume you have to rotate content in and out. I guess it depends how many people join the website. I'm definitely looking for rebills and not to lure people to pay for a membership only to treat them to a terrible website. If I can get away with two updates a week then cool(as in one gallery and one video a week), but I know if I joined a website like that I would be quickly annoyed.

It is better to watch things then to do them

Seems like it would depend on how much content you start with. If you had 20 sets of pics and a few videos, and only updated a new video weekly then someone probably won't rebill (with an exception). If you started with thousands of pics and dozens of vids, then they will likely still be going through the rest still and might rebill until they lose interest.
The exception being a smaller niche or content that they just have to have or can't find elsewhere. |

Thanks for the replies, I haven't gotten started with it yet but I will soon. One last question(for now) when you buy content can you do what you want with it? Or are there restrictions? Like say using the images in ads for your website freely.

When buying content make sure you read their license agreement carefully. Some will let you do things with it that others will not.
