Need your input on MadHatter's video promoting his blog

Well he doesn't know I'm posting this, he is still asleep, lol. But he has been working hard on this, and we want to post it up to youtube to promote his blog. He'd love some feedback on what you think.

Known problems: we didn't have an external mike on this, so you have to turn it way up to hear him. We bought a digital recorder yesterday, and the next one should have better sound.

1. Should he restoot it with better sound for this first one?

2. length ok?

3. Did you laugh?

4. He's afraid it will make him look stupid, and I told him I think that is the point of it, lol.

5. any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Look for the VH1 article on Gary Brolsma (Numa Numa). I believe he now has his own rock band, was the most viewed 'viral' video on youtube, and, while he did look dumb at the time, he has his own band that has started to gain popularity, and, a rather profitable site selling his ringtones, etc.

Or search for the original "Numa Numa" (that was the video). To this day I just don't get it...and I think this is the proper way to spell introducshun.

As far as madhatters video, throw it out for folks to see and see what happens.

A friend of ours told us he needs to do paysite reviews in his "redneck persona" so I think that is what we will film next. Still learning, and we know they are long, will try to make the next batch shorter.

If you watch those Funniest Videos shows, etc -- the dumber or funnier the video, the bigger the laugh. Self-deprecating humor tends to rule the net and I'm sure it'll get a decent response.

MML talked about this during 'On the Bench' about amateur sites looking too pro, but, you don't want the sound/etc to detract from the video. Run with it, but, refine your techniques as you keep adding them and I think you've got quite a bit of potential for a unique way of driving traffic to your blog.

Not bad for a start, real rednecks would have lots of empty Bud cans laying around and a confederate flag but Mad Hatter has the act down.
What was the name of his site again? I didn't catch it in the vids.

That was very cute. I especially liked the holding up of the site print outs. Very "amateur" touch.. which I think would be a good hook. Just a regular guy sharing his porn for money. IF they only know how totally opposite MadHatter really is from that "persona"..

OMG Jim is soooo opposite of this guy in many ways, he had to re-shoot one of them because I was trying to run the camera and kept laughing.

We are going to film some more today, we got him a lapel mike to help with the sound. There is a dump of an abandoned trailer down the road, and we are going to go out and film that as a background, maybe that will be his cousin's place, lol.

We showed the videos to a friend of ours, and he gave us some great ideas to expand on what he does. He is going to start doing porn site reviews in character. It was funny, our friend was at work, and showed one of his buddies Jim's videos, and he thought it was a real guy.

I told MadHatter he should bring his teeth and glasses to XBiz, and I could hold the video camera, and we could film him talking with some of the hotties there for his site. Think that is a good idea? Poor guy, means he has to walk around looking like that in public LMAO. But it would be all handheld stuff, next to hot chicks. (Thinking of the wii amateurishly shot + hot chick + controversy = viral hit)

I think the XBIZ idea is great! I don't know MadHatter, but he sounds like a great guy with a great idea. I watched the videos and I have to say that I got a good laugh. I don't know much about rednecks, (except what I have seen in movies) but he looked believable to me.

He should bring his teeth and glasses at the XBIZ even if you decide against the redneck + hot chick idea, we could all get some good laughs, and who knows what comes out of it.

I agree totally and we know enough "hot" chicks in the business to find him a few to interview.

Loved it - the sound sucked but fuck - he's a redneck not a frickin sound engineer.

This runs along the same lines of a project I've been working on - we'll chat about it with some of you in a week when we all meet in Vegas.

I'd love to help on one of thos sets and if you ever get out my way - I know a shitload of great locations and some real redneck freaks for friends.

Ok, he will bring the teeth. I told him we need to go to radio shack, and buy one of those big karoke mikes, then he can use that to interview, lol. Think he is a bit embarrased to walk around that way, don't blame him, lmao. But maybe we can talk and set some stuff up, then he can wear them just for that. I told him we should shoot something like in the doorway, "this here is wheres all the porn people goes" type of thing, lol.

He is going to shoot porn site reviews today using his lapel mike of some of our AVS sites and see how that goes. Hopefully, better. At least those we can give the urls and get credit for signups.

We have a sony camera that I think he can hot shoe in a shotgun mike, but don't have one yet.
