When do you do the most work online?
I decided to make a quick poll regarding having business shows in the summer at all. I know, I kind of like to take it easy in the summer.

i think i do the whole year a bit the same, in summer it would be less hours a day but only for 3 or 4 weeks.

So Stu, that would still be less than the summer. I guess I should have added that to the poll.

The only difference in summer is I sweat more when I mow the lawns. Other than that, it's business as usual

You guys need to start setting some time for yourselves offline. Burnout is not a pleasant time, believe me. I spent a year where I couldn't even turn on my PC. Of course, that was just after being burned out of a couple million dollars. |

I pretty much work the same all year round - there's always something going on: conventions, football games, holidays, poker, parties, hockey, casino, etc.

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.

I spend most of the year about the same - and when I want a vacation I take it whether it be summer fall or winter - doesnt really matter. Jim, I think that most of the reason you would think more towards summer being the time for those things because of where you live - a lot of us live in places where its 80 deg and sunny in November
The other thing that might affect the summer some is the old theory that there was a summer slowdown (the old college kids out of school stuff) - in my opinion that doesnt have any effect any more as the college kids have grown up with computers/internet all their lives and getting that access and a CC at college doesnt play into the equation much - 5 years ago there was a very noticable effect - but just doesnt seem to play anymore - my July sales outdid January by a long shot wheras in the old days it would be the other way around |

one thing i did have learned in this bizz is to not lett bizz take over your life i work less hours then when i started this bizz, i am glad my hubby lett me do my thing in this bizz, but one time i had to see that there is more then this bizz...like your kids and hubby, heay i did took care of the kids things but not of my hubby and he is a guy who is not gonna sit and wait till i see my mistake he just told me that time and i am glad he did, now i can take holidays again, now i know how to put bizz aside and enjoy life again and i wont get burnout anymore (bin there, done that) i will be in this bizz a long time, still i will have a netconnection again next year at the summerhome

That which does not kill us, will try, try again.

I had to choose "All Seasons About the Same" since that was the closest. But I really wanted "A Little Less in the Winter" for my vote, since that's the absolutely best time to be outside down here. Perfect weather almost every day. Summer here is too hot and it's easy to get more work done when nothing outside is very appealing.
Also, as Stu was chinese-dutching (welcome back Stu ), I might work less during some period but then just make up for it with extra 'catching up' time afterwards. My other comments are spot on to Linkster's so I'll save everyone the reading of them twice.

It's seems to be the same for me year round. We don't have a special time of the year we go on vacation, whenever the urge hits we go. The kids are grown so don't have to deal with keeping them busy during summer anymore.
This is a year round job, but I am taking more time offline than I was. I fear burnout as Jim mentioned, so I do turn this pc off and stay away from it more now |

That was the reason my first thought of a career was being a High School Teacher like my Mother. I remember her asking me the first year I had to work during the Summer, what it was like. During her entire life, she never had to work from the end of June until the beginning of September. She went from High School to College to Teaching. It was like being a kid all life long. |

I have never experienced a summer slowdown either, but maybe if we had reached some kind of growth plateau we'd notice it. Either way, seems like all the more reason to work MORE in the summer to make up for it rather than less, but I'd probably feel differently if I had kids.
As it is I'd rather vacation in the spring and fall. We basically work and take time off regardless of season, just whenever it needs to be done. |

All seasons the same here. If I had anything meaningful in my life there might be seasonal variations, but no.
Anyway, I don't see the logic in slacking off during summer/holidays. Traffic/conversions tend to dip a little, but if I work less that would reduce my income even more.

About the same all year. Living in SoCal the weather is great all year. Couple weeks in summer is to hot and a couple weeks in winter is cold enough that I can't wear shorts. So I take time off whenever and when I do its absolutely no work at all. Usually just a couple days to a week at most and I do not even check email.
