Piwik: An Alternative To Google Analytics ...
I've been thinking long and hard about what it means to give up your user stats to Google Analytics (GA). I've decided that I want to use something where I control the data. AwStats and the like are okay but they don't give you a lot of info.
I've come across Piwik. It's an open source program that you put on your website (like Wordpress, etc.). Obviously, it requires a MySQL database to gather it's info. Once set-up, you place a hunk of code on your site just like you would with GA (or use a Wordpress plugin). Anyhow, I don't have an opinion on it yet but I thought I would let people know of my find as it might be helpful to some. |

I'm not sure about Piwik, I looked at it a while ago, but never pursued it, there are certainly other options. I use Statcounter on some of my sites and I like it a lot, and as far as WP plugins, the "newstat press' has served me well.
