Payment Method
I seriously have a thousand questions I could ask you guys, hope I can get an answer to most of them But I don't want to start 500 threads a day, so Ill take it easy...
I've been browsing the web for ages and I've noticed there's a lot of different kinds of pay sites.. Let me be more specific: - Sites that combine free/premium memberships where you dont need to sign up for a free account, it's just free. - Same as the above but the amount of videos you can watch is restricted. - Websites where you need to sign up for a free account, and after about watching 3 videos you can't go any further and need to go premium. - Sites where you are asked to pay $1 for instant access, but when you try to close the page, you get a popup message saying you can now sign up 100% free, also restricted. etc. etc. etc. What experience do you guys have with this? What do you reckon works best? The site in question is an amateur video website. |

What you are looking at are tube/video sites mostly and I personally have no experience with it.
My experience has been straight forward, here is the price and once they pay they get access. I would think the signup for free access but limited daily viewing might be a good way to upsell but that's just a guess. |

for promoting, i find the free or $1 joins to be the best in getting the sponsors to convert for me...but having said that, if the niche you are promoting is small/narrow..then even full paid memberships work as well...
if it's PPS for you, then i go with the lowest i can to get the surfer more inclined to join, and can promote that too... if it's rev share then i like something that's going to give me something, even if he doesn't renew...so a few bucks a join at least... sounds like the best business model for me as a webmaster to follow.. and side note, always follow your own links in ..thus testing them..and making sure you get your code following them and or cookied..so you are sure you get credit for signups...i've seen some wierd things over the past couple of decades...so it pays to check things out..this way you also make sure your surfer gets where you think you are sending them too...

Thanks for the advice guys.
We are designing an Amateur tube kind of website with about 6K videos. So there's no sponsors, etc. It all goes straight to us. I guess testing will be the best thing to do |
