Tips & Tricks For Promoting AEBN - Part 2 - How To Find The Screen Cap In Their Premium Galleries
(that should be the actual title of the thread, but it wouldn't fit)

I can think of a lot of reasons where you'd want the screen cap that a hosted gallery uses for a flash/mp4 video. Personally, I resize them & use it as the preview thumb on the Free Sites I build using their Premium Galleries as the 2 galleries on the Free Site. But I assume TGP's & some Link Lists might want them to use for a preview thumb. There's more, but that's not the point :)

Now, I am assuming that you already know how to find the screen cap in a gallery that uses a flash/mp4 video. But, in case you don't, here's an example of a normal hosted gallery & how easy it is to find the screen cap:
http://galleries.fuckingawesome.com/...yMQ,0,0,0,1921
On this one, you simply view the source & look for the coding for the video (it starts on Line 148):
Code:

The image URL for the screen cap in the code above is in BOLD. Just slap that into your browser & you have the screen cap. VERY SIMPLE!

But, with AEBN, it's a little different. And I seriously doubt they are making it hard to find the screen cap, but it is.

Let's use this gallery:
http://premiumgalleries.aebn.net/gal...6490/clip/4012
I choose this gallery specifically because I can't believe how crystal clear the screen cap is! Most of the scree caps - especially on the high def videos - are very good. But this one....WOW! But, I digress.....

Go to the gallery page & view the source. For this gallery, you want to look at Line 78 (and the code you're looking for has always been right around Line 75-80 - at least on all the galleries I've used)
Code:

I've put the part of the code above that you'll need in BOLD. Specifically, it's this:
Code:

/gallery/flowplayer/clip/A142897_S676913.mp4/image/A142897_S676913.jpg
When you view the source in Chrome, that part is a clickable link. If it's not in your browser, simply add this to the front of it:
Code:

http://premiumgalleries.aebn.net
So that you now have this strange looking URL:
Code:

http://premiumgalleries.aebn.net/gallery/flowplayer/clip/A142897_S676913.mp4/image/A142897_S676913.jpg
Looking at it, you'd think it was a .jpg image - but it's not! Go to that URL & what you'll find is a page.

Now, view the source & then look at Line 21:
Code:

        Play this video

Once again, I've put the part of the code above that you'll need in BOLD. It's the URL for an image:
Code:

http://images.premiumgalleries.aebn.net/A142897_S676913.jpg
Go to that URL & what you'll find is a glorious crystal clear 1920x180 screen cap from the video used in the gallery:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/greeng...-cap-thumb.jpg
(I downloaded the image & put it on this server - just click the thumb to see the full size pic)

So there you go! You've got the image used in the screen cap without having to take your own screen cap of the gallery & having that annoying Play Button http://www.link-o-rama.com/HD-Video/play_large.png stuck in the middle of the image. I also think that having the Play Button on the image might be confusing to the surfer if it's used as a preview/thumb, since clicking it does not play a movie.

WHEW! This was a long one. Hopefully my instructions are clear enough to walk you thru finding the screen cap. If not, post & I'll do my best to help |shake|

The complete lack of replies has made me think that no one felt this Tip & Trick was useful :(

hmmm... been looking into my bag of tricks? I have been doing that on any sponsor gallery that doesn't have a thumb I like. This is a great trick to have and use.

Hmmm, Just noticed when I go to the gallery site in Firefox. Right click and say "view background image". I get the image too.

Learning alot from these tutorials. I may switch my Lezinterracial site to AEBN too.
