I'm very grateful to you for posting this, because I immediately went to youtube to find Peter Cook's "worst job I ever had" to post it for you in reply. While I was there I also found Dudley Moore's "worst job I ever had", which I must have heard before because I've heard the tapes and seen the video recording of them being made, but I could not remember that one.

What are they doing in the first pic?

Many years ago I remember seeing a thing on TV about researchers who could tell what someone had eaten by smelling their sweat. They demonstrated this by sniffing the armpits of audience members and correctly identifying their last meal. The program was a silly light entertainment thing, however there was (apparently) a good scientific reason that the researchers had to be able to do this. Unfortunately it was years ago (at least 10, probably 20) and I cannot remember what research it was that required this skill!

Wow, yes. It is much better to be slinging smut.
