Well, it is off to the races, literally.

After a lot of internal debate about how many in the Juniors division (10-19) have posted better times than I have in the 15k, and that most of the people in my division (Masters 40-49) are minutes ahead of me, I've decided I'm going to do the race anyhow. I suspect I'll come in last in my division as the only person that ran the 15k that did roughly my time, raced only once in the series.

So who knows. Medals are 5 deep - only 3 people in my division in the last race, so, I should at least medal. haha.

Poor planning on my part. I rarely carry cash and when I got there, I had a $20, the registration fee was $15, and the USAC insurance fee was $10. So, I rode a bit and came back home after watching a few people start.

Morning all!

Today is starting better than yesterday where Jim left down cat food all night in the laundry room and we had the ant invasion again. Forced me to clean it out. Found the hole they were coming in and poisoned/caulked it. The laundry room is also my clothes closet, so I went through and pulled out all the clothes I can't wear, stored everything that was on the floor that didn't need to be there. Ants are forcing us to clean areas we haven't cleaned in years, lol.

CD34, sorry to hear about your race. Maybe by the time another one comes around, you will be faster. I can't wait for fall and 8 months of bike riding weather.

Nothing planned today other than work. I'm sore from all the cleaning and the almost hour workout I did yesterday so sitting in the computer chair sounds good. Have a good one all! |virgohippy|

Next month is the last in this series. I'll be a bit better prepared. I actually called USAC to see if they could renew my license that I let lapse in 1992 - would have been hilarious to have shown up with a member since 1984 racing license. But alas, their records only go back 10 years when they started to computerize. They said, if I could find my license, they would accept it and modify my license, but, I went through a phase when I moved and got rid of almost everything that reminded me of the past - photos, licenses, trophies, certificates, a picture of my car on a turn at Watkins Glen when I turned in a 106mph lap.

Based on the race's website, I didn't realize it was a USAC (USA cycling) event and should have thought about the $10 one-day registration/insurance waiver for that.

Oh well. :)

I'll be much better prepared for next month's as I know what I need to work on. I plateaued last month, but, recognizing it is half the battle.

Morning. I'm back from helping a company in New York with a couple things. I have to go back and help interview for someone that can manage stuff there. The money and paid trip to new york was nice. Getting stuck on the runway because of possible tornados on the way out though wasn't so great.

While there I saw Juddha Frielander, Chris Rock, Aziz Ansari, and a lot of people that always make comments on vh1 specials. I also ate pizza for every meal except for one meal where I had loads of oysters and a lobster roll. :)

Picked up the book "No Angel" in the airport and read it on the plane ride. Solid little read. About some guys that went undercover with the hells angels.

Now I'm sitting around catching up on some code and watching Football the rest of the day. :) :)

Just got in from spending the day out on the ocean in a friend's boat.

Did a little snorkeling and then we hopped waves until our bones hurt. Going to look through the snorkeling pics to see if we go any good shots after resting a bit. Other than that grocery shopping and watching Weeds later is the extent of that rest of today's plans.

I really wish the room would stop rocking though.
