How Old Is Your Email Address?

It's time for a pointless thread to boost up the board's popularity :D

So how old is your email address?

And not "How old is your oldest email address?" I'm sure we all have some old ones that we no longer use. I want to know how old your main go-to email address is.

blamo@concentric.net is over 16 years old. Concentric was my 1st ISP & I signed up to use them back in April/May of 1996.

You don't have to post it if you fear all those pesky email harvester people, but after using that one for 16 years, I can say it's pointless to try & hide them :)

I have three that I still use regularly.

I did a whois
My mainstream one was created in 1998
My Apple one was created in 2000
My adult one was created in 2000.

ArtWilliams 2012-08-09 06:56 PM

Just over 12 years! I am a baby compared to the two of you.

Bill 2012-08-09 07:15 PM

97 i think, for the oldest one I now have. Possibly 96.

before that my email address was from my bulletin board - and I had that one starting in 89 - and it was a true internet address, I had the only true internet board for 165 miles, lol.

with usenet and true email - what a time that was.

I only wish I had started adult the same time you did greeny - one of my big strategic mistakes. In my defense I didn't know it was possible.

My oldest email address, which is so spamridden that I don't use it:

Registrar of Record: TUCOWS, INC.
Record last updated on 02-Mar-2012.
Record expires on 29-Mar-2013.
Record created on 28-Mar-1994.

The email that I use on a regular basis:

Record created on 30-Nov-1999.

Ah 96, back when domains were $200 for the first year, and a $100 there after. Yep still use that eMail. My first was older, a number on a Library Server, before BBS or WWW. Couldn't keep that one. Next was HotMail, but ditched that when MickySoft bought them, or I'd still have it as well. Produced Adult with them all. But I think you have me by a few months on continuous Greenie. And had no Ideal you went back that far :)

I have a domain that was registered in January of 1998 that I'm still using for my primary non-adult email.

I have an old free Juno address from the mid-90's that I still use a fair bit!

Only used domain emails for submitting which I don't really do anymore!

My ISP email addresses changes too often to be worth the effort constantly updating contact information!

My first email account was created back in 1984 whem I was developing corporate software for computer generated emails!

Sorry about the people who now use those programming basics for |spam|

I've moved and changed ISPs too many times for those to be my oldest email addresses. I had a bunch of AOL email addresses from the early to mid-90s, and some Compuserve addresses, all of which are gone now. Actually one of my AOL ones was so old it was my name with just a 7 after it. Had an old AppleLink one in the late 80s too.

While I have some domains with email addresses a year or two older, I guess my oldest and continuously in-use address would be my extremeporn.com webmaster address from May 1997. So a little over 15 years on that one.

Tommy 2012-08-10 02:41 PM

15 years old give or take a year and its still my primary email

DiGiT 2012-08-13 09:03 AM

My oldest 'living' one is a hosted by german freemail hoster web.de and has to be about 15 years old.

My current "main private" mail address ([firstname]@[surname].org) is at least 10 years old - that's the current date I get when I do a whois on that domain.

LD 2012-08-13 09:41 AM

How does that work when you change your isp? I changed from AT&T/Bellsouth some time ago, but I still use my bellsouth email addresses. The ATT?Bellsouth mail servers are yahoo. I guess one day I will wake up with my bellsouth addresses not working....(?)

I actually pay Concentric (now XO) $9.99/month to keep the blamo account. If I could go back in time, I'd use one of the domains.

Me too, for mine - i pay earthlink some smallish amount - less then ten a month, but not the smallest possible for the email only - for emergency backup dialup access and that old email.

Greenguy 2012-08-14 09:25 AM

I think concentric does include a dial-up number if I needed it, but fuck me if any of my machines have a modem LOL

I wonder if Rogers does that since I will likely be dropping their service soon since they are not in Montreal. Though the idea of a new email address and no longer 200 emails a day of spam is nice, lol

Had the rogers email since 2002 I think though it started as @home.com and is now @rogers.com when Yahoo started running their mail servers for them 7-8 years ago.

Pagan 2012-08-15 11:25 AM

My adult domain goes back to May 2002. I think I used my hotmail address (back to 1998) before that. Mainstream, my primary email address is from 1999.

Fonz 2012-08-15 12:36 PM

my first email adress back in 1998 was an @altavista.net one. I let it go when they started charging money for it. My current main one is from my ISP and is from 2002 or so.

JustRobert 2012-08-15 10:42 PM

Mine is almost 11 yrs old. It also comes with dial up service I still pay $10 for.

CD Smith 2012-08-16 04:58 PM

I still have several from 1998-99 that I still use.

The one I had before that is long gone though, as the company is defunct.

NY Jester 2012-08-20 05:50 PM

BNS 2012-09-08 01:48 PM

tofu 2012-09-13 10:07 AM

mivsmi@yahoo.com, circa 1995. It was successfully phished and lost in 2009. |huh

bDok 2012-09-14 01:59 AM

Maybe 1999-2000 that I still use today. Had some from way back in the day on FidoNet when I was into BBS stuff. Other ones from back when I used to have shell accounts on boxes when I would dial in. Those are long gone.

Jowebart 2012-09-14 09:00 AM

My first email adress was from yahoo lol .. was like 12 maybe 13 years ago ..
