Where to start?

First of all thanks to all those who have posted on this site I've learned a lot by reading the past few weeks. I want to get into this industry but have no website skills. I've made a few movies and done some shooting of various models and now I want to start using it. I see that most agree setting up a free site is the best way to get started and then link from there. My first question is there an "in the can" website I can purchase and do you recommend that? I started this adventure with a buddy that hasnt come through on the technical end. Do i have chance of getting this going myself?

I'll just stop there for now, thanks for any advice.

WOW, to be honest the odds are stacked against you.To get started you will need some basic html skills. Dreamweaver is an html editor with a graphical interface that i love to use. You can get a 30 day trial.
If you can produce content and have all the required 2257 docs you might want to think about paying someone to build you a content reseller site.
Be care full buying an in the can website, you never know what you might be buying.
Try to figure out what exactly you want to do in the industry, and we will help from there.

I would recommend searching for some online HTML and CSS tutorials. Once you get a basic understanding of the programming language itself, it will make a program like Dreamweaver that much more powerful.

And +1 for Dreamweaver, is definitely an excellent piece of software.

Good luck with the site!

Not trying to discourage your desire..but in the times we are n as a whole, Veteran webmasters who have years of skill under their belts are finding it tough to make ends meet. A person with zero experience, web wise, traffic wise, marketing wise, etc..I wish you all the best. This isn;t a get rich quick type of business. I think many have a distorted vision of money and cars and women..it just isn't like that. Its more than a full time job For starters, Id try and pick up some basic HTML skills then move on to obtaining traffic. These pages and posts are full of great insight but its a tough road to tow. All the best.

Thanks

thanks for the encouragement and the honesty. I do want the women, the cars and all the bling ;) But I have been reading how this economy is hurting even the porn industry. They say do what you love right? Well I love porn and i feel I can at least dabble for now without too much cost. I will start working on my html skills and see if i cant find another partner.

My next question to show my utter ignorance, where is the best place to get the proper legal forms and do I need to register a site, if I get one going, with the govt?

Thanks again folks!

HowlingWulf 2009-08-12 12:12 PM

Why would you want to register a site with the govt? Legal forms? That's crazy talk.

However if you want to register a domain name for yourself you can do it online try http://www.moniker.com I use em.

Or you can start up with few blogs.
If you are a native speaking english you may be intersted in my little project regarding handwriten description and free traffic :) I have about 80 handwriten blogs on different niches with daily update 1 post per blog. You provide me daily with fresh descriptions and i will publish all of them with YOUR own affiliate code.
As it is a handwritten unique post for my blogs, it will generate search engine traffic for the long time and you will received some good amount of traffic and sales as well.

The only way you are going to make a ton of cash with adult websites is if you already have a lot of money that you can invest into the website. If you look at a site like Twistys.com, you can see that they have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on models. Their content is excellent and you can bet they are pulling in the cash.

I am a beginner also, and I don't expect to make hardly any money for at least the first year. Right now it's more of a hobby than anything else, and if I start making some decent cash someday then all the better. It also allows me to look at porn without the wife getting mad.

The sad thing is that this used to be a get rich quick type of business. I remember starting my first porn site over on the old porncity freehosting with adult check and netverifier. I was living in a college dorm with not even $50 in my pocket. By the first month I was making near $1,000. Second month nearly $3000. Things really changed! |cry| Don't think you are going to do this today. Sure it is possible but I give it a 0.0000001% chance. If you do get anywhere, realize it will be through HARD WORK and persistence which will almost be seen as crazy by others.

I would start by realizing that you don't want to quit your day job and by realizing that the odds are you will be working for what is essentially $1 an hour (if even that) for quite some time.

Start reading many boards but be weary of taking advice until you have read a lot and have some experience with which to gauge the advice. Free sites are a good place to start for a few months to learn basics. Maybe to stay with them long after that too but as soon as you can get into everything else like blogging and tgps too. Try many different things. Do not limit yourself to one or two things or you will never get beyond those things.

Ready to work 12 hours a day for 25 cents an hour (about $18 a week = a little over 1 revshare sale) ? That's how it will probably be for a month or two....possibly longer? If so, get working and good luck my friend! :)

These guys are right about it being hard these days to be a successful profiting webmaster but, don't let anyone's opinion stop you from trying for yourself. Everyone success story's differ and everyone prospers better then others. You need to find your spot in this over saturated industry and find out what works for you.
Here is a site that offers a WP script:
AdultSiteCMS maybe someone can comment on this, I haven't tried it myself but it does look interesting. Hiring a designer may put a big dent in the pocket, adult design seems to be more expensive then others.
Blogs are a great tool to get yourself started, also get some backlinks on higher PR sites that are in your niche. It is a slow painful process but once you get over that hump it will be a "little bit" easier.
Good luck!

Defonic...can I ask where you're getting the full length videos for the tube site you're pushing? Adult Tube Land. The reason I ask is because there are some big programs' movies sbeing shown their..just wanted to know if they knew?

I really appreciate everyones input. Please keep it coming. I'm still a little uncertain on what everyone means by blogs however. Can omeone post a direct link to one?

starting with a turnkey site will only make one person money...thats the guy you bought it from...

try something simple, a blog, or a one page ad, build it and then learn about traffic. Once you know more about traffic, then build more and more free sites, or blogs...

One you can send 5-10 joins a day to a sponsor, then start thinking about your own paysite...until then you will just lose money and time.

Pagan 2009-08-17 10:14 PM

Turnkeys don't work -- surfers run away from them because they have seen all that stuff before. Link Lists won't list them for the same reason.

HTML is NOT hard to learn - a few simple tags and you can build a gallery. A few more and you have a freesite. Take the time to invest and learn. You can learn it all for free. Find a sponsor, and get free content. Stay with what turns you on, and you will have a great beginning.

Do your site right -- buy a domain name and pay for your hosting. This never has been a get-rich-quick-scheme. It is a lot of hard work for very little reward. Are you man enough to invest in it?
