Average conversion ratios

Been doing the adult gig for nine months and I am just getting more baffled....

Yes, I know about different types of traffic, different sponsors, different ways of coutning hits, different everything, but still, in the end of the day, what does your overall ratio in your statsremote or unified stats look like?

When I started out I was thinking 1:800 is a good working assumption to base my business plan on... so far it is much much worse. Closer to 1:2500 or so. It deteriorated gradually though, so while I get more and more traffic and clicks everyday, I get less revenue...

Aren't summers supposed to be slow months? |huh

Been submitting freesites only for about three months, and the raw figure I have in Unified Stats is 1:1964.
I half-planned for about 1:1200 when starting out so like you I'm a bit concerned, however those stats include a few sponsors that I just can't seem to convert!
A few sponsors are currently at 0:3000-ish, and one is at a rather nasty 1:10593, really dragging those numbers up, or is it down?

I had a really really bad last two weeks of May with just one signup and that was very very worrying. Still have no idea why.

I've looked for patterns and tried to recreate what I thought was a successful design etc, but the only thing I can point to that seems to make a difference is including lots of juicy text. Sometimes I write a mildly entertaining little story to go with the photos and that seems to make a small but noticable difference in conversions.

I guess it's all part of the learning process, and three months building freesites isn't really much to go on.
Approaching my 100th freesite now and still enjoying myself!
|loony|

Sorry for rambling, the answer to your question is 1:1964.

Same here, but itīs depending on the time period which you are looking for. I had a crash with my main sponsor starting in April. Conversions went down from 1:750 to 1:2000 for tgp traffic, no changes in the traffic source.

Another sponsor delivered much better rates instead. I think overall stats arenīt very helpful, because there are too many topics which influence the ratio.

If you are interested in detailed results, hit me up on ICQ.

Looking back to the day I started, I think this is a fairy tale.

Greenguy 2006-06-07 05:34 PM

I just totaled up all the numbers from my last 2 stats runs & I'm at 1:935

Useless 2006-06-07 05:49 PM

Looking at last months stats, I'm a wonderful 1:2422. |shocking|

I have programs that should sell very well with my traffic, yet suck out badly. I really love the ones that sold fine before they went cascading, but have fallen right off the shitter since. I wonder if they use a Gillette or electric while compiling stats?

diggz 2006-06-07 09:19 PM

This will be my 3rd summer in adult and previously I have noticed absolutely NO SLOWDOWN in summer. This is just a myth as far as I can tell. Although soon I will be looking from a program owner perspective and who knows, maybe things will change then.

As for what statsremote is showing me....
Month || Raw || Unq
Jun || 1:826 || 1:593
May || 1:894 || 1:644

nekrom 2006-06-07 11:41 PM

According to SR for last month overall I was 1:731, so far this month I'm sitting at 1:910.

My aggregate conversion ratio over all sponsors for all of 2005 was 1:578, year to date for 2006 it's at 1:677. That's mostly niche TGP traffic.

Mr. Blue 2006-06-08 12:46 AM

Just checked my unified stats...I'm running at 1:842 at the moment with tgp traffic mostly (some blogs, some freesites, but mostly tgp). That includes a few hun listing that spun the dial and also some sponsors that sucked wind.

I don't worry so much about ratios as sometimes there's other factors involved, including how the sponsors calculate whats unique, first page, second page, whatever...fuckers really make it hard to figure out stats at times. If they all used one uniform system it would be really easy to compare sponsors.

In the end though conversion ratio isn't the golden calf to judge how you're doing money wise because there's so many factors involved (i.e. whether the sponsors is PPS, how much that PPS is, if it's revshare what are the rebills like on it...etc).

I thought that I was the only one going thru the same problem. Everybody talks about how great it was to move off ccbill and go cascading. Me personally, 9 out 10 that have, I have just earned less money with the ones that switched. Go Figure?|loony|

Recently signed up with 2 asian sponsors within a day of each other. One I thought would do well and the other I wasn't sure of. Same traffic with about the same promotion and I got the reverse. The one I thought would do well has done nothing, which happens to be cascading. Now the one I wasn't sure of has done well and its on ccbill. Go Figure, again!

Summer months have been a bit slower every year for the past 5 years for me. Not hugely slower but enough to notice. But then again maybe its because I am not working as hard as well.:D

1:722 overall since the beginning of the year, 1:930 this month (don't know whats going on), but if I remove some of the really terrible ones my core sponsors and my own sites aren't too bad.

Stability in your stats really depends on how much traffic and how many sales you are pushing. If you only have a few a week then you will see massive swings, but if you are making thousands a week then the numbers and trends start to form a pattern.

Mr. Stiff 2006-06-08 02:59 AM

1:880, mostly on TGP traffic.
But i guess ratio's don't say much, I always look at earnings per click.

You can sell 1:100 $1 trials on revshare, or do 1:2000 with a $30 PPS.

docholly 2006-06-08 09:43 AM

hmmm i just had to go look.. |crazy|

Major webcam program 1:541

Indie Porn Girls (overall and all on ccbill) 1:886

Other progams not on ccbill: 1:2674 (i really do not push them too much at all--they just live out in cyber space)

for some reason i wish I hadn't looked. |angry|

Mr Exotic 2006-06-08 09:52 AM

Overall in Unified Stats I am 1:1528 on the year, but the programs I make most my money off of are anywhere from 1:284 to 1:1080. My numbers are thrown off to look bad from 3-4 sponsors that just flat out suck total donkey balls. I have one sponor I built pages for for over a year and a half and they were always my number 1 sponsor. Well it seems as soon as 2005 turned into 2006 they literally shut the sign ups off. Since I had built so many pages for them I am still sending them tons of traffic but aint made a cent in over 2-3 months. Then I have a couple new ones I tried and they sucked too and I ended up building too much shit for them before I gave up on them, haha.

I fucking hate picking new sponsors now, its like rolling the fucking dice, are these guys gonna fuck me over or not. Some sponsors sites like one of my sponsors in particular sites looks fucking awesome, like they would be one of the best converting sponsors ever, I mean all their sites are awesome looking, their content is some of the best content I have seen, but its nothing for me to see conversions with them worse then 1:5000 any given month. Then in the same niche I am promoting a site on a different sponsor that doesnt look as good, the content doesnt look as good and its ALWAYS ALWAYS less than 1:1000. Both these sites have been promoted pretty much the same way (free sites that have been submitted to the same sites) too, some of the things that go on in this biz just make you say WTF.

As both Bill in the SE chat and MML in OTB try to drill into us.. Messy and Ugly sells.. pretty doesn't sell as well.

Jel 2006-06-08 11:01 AM

This year 1:739
Last year 1:738

This month 1:732
Last month 1:709

Which isn't probably much help to anyone, but nice seeing a stable figure on a personal level :)

MrYum 2006-06-08 11:33 AM

There was a certain webcam program that kept my numbers deceptively low through 2004, when the program switched backends...

2003 - 1:575
2004 - 1:580
2005 - 1:1200
2006 - 1:1300

Totally agree with the other comments that finding a decent program is a shot in the dark. Some will absolutely rock one month and stink up the joint the next. So, I try not to watch the numbers too much...other than the bottom line...how much is hitting my bank every month.

These days if I can get a program to convert at sub 1:1000, they're a keeper |thumb

That said, I do have a couple right now that I REALLY need to get around to yanking completely |banghead|

AndyS 2006-06-08 12:20 PM

Its nice to see some honest numbers, you see so often people posting that they are hitting sub 300 converstion ratios and just wonder what you are doing wrong. Anyway my average is about 1:1000, its lower for sponser sites and a little worse for my own sites. Better redesign those tours :D

spazlabz 2006-06-08 02:11 PM

this is a great thread...definitely shows how much things have changed over the years. I remember very fondly TGP traffic converting at under 1:200 consistantly and if it went over 1:400 you had a major issue to address

those days sadly are long gone.

Are you saying that I'm too pretty to sell porn? Thanks. ;)

And my numbers are like yours. My overall CCBill conversions are much better than the rates I'm getting with cascasding sponsors, or as I like to call them, my no five o'clock shadow sponsors. I'm going to start chucking links. |thumb

Kappi 2006-06-08 03:33 PM

+/- 1:1300.. this ratio has been quiet stable over the past 24 months. Mostly tgp traffic mixed with a good dose of SE traffic.

Allfetish 2006-06-08 03:50 PM

Used to have ratios around 1:250 for a long time pushing niche sponsors. But this month it has really dropped off so far to about 1:600. :( Some of this is due to poorer quality traffic that I have been driving in.

I'm suspecting that it is partially the economy.

I remember some sites I had in 1999 that did 1:100 with general traffic. :(
