Saw 'The Omen' Last Night

Save yourself the time and money - it completely sucked. Most of the theatre was laughing at the brooding 'Damien' and the parts that did or tried to startle/entertain you, well, let's just say that watching someone sneeze is much more entertaining than this horrible remake.

The original was ten times better. Pathetic. Satan, er Hollywood, is just out for a cheesy cash grab here. About the only REALLY cool thing about the whole evening was seeing all the 6-6-6 freaks all dressed up. Ok maybe not but I had to say something positive about last night.

That sucks...
I haven't been to a movie in a theater in such a long time, I was thinking of going to see this movie. I think probably the next movie I will see will be Superman at our local Imax 3d only 120 miles away :)

The original, in my opinion, was a bad movie.. so no way i am going to waste one of my precious Netflix slots on the remake.

at least you got to people watch. :D

That's what I figured.
The trailers all look identical to the original.

I hate it when they do a "money grab" for a date (6/6/06). There's totally nothing wrong with the original version of The Omen, and it's the one people will always remember anyway.

Heard on the radio today that it is the original. They did not change the script other then writing in things like instead of using rottweilers they used dobermans. I have not seen the movie so I don't know if that's true but from what I have seen in the ads I don't doubt it.

Saw it on triple 6 day as well but during the day. Only 20 people in the theater at 11am but thats when my daughter wanted to go. She thought is was good but she has never saw the original. For me, it was okay but then again my daughter paid so I did not have the ripped off feeling I get when I see some movies.

I just love your definition of local, bro... :)

The Omen (the original) actually was previewed on June 6, 1976, so this one is just following the path already there.

I'd just turned 21 when The Omen opened in '76 and I took a date to see that movie. When we came out of the movie we walked across the street to where I'd parked the car. It was a dark street and the car was parked by the opening to an alley. As I walked around the car to open the door for my date, we heard a growling/barking coming from the even darker alley.

The next thing I remembered was the two of us sitting in the car staring at each other. Evidently I pushed her into the car, locked her door, and jumped over the car to my side, slid in and locked my door, all in a matter of a couple of seconds.

I think it was the Rotties in the cemetary scene that got to me, and to her too. I'm not sure what was in that alley, but we both laughed pretty hard once we realized we were safe.

We don't have anything around here. We used to have the State's largest Walmart but I think that was passed a year or so ago. We make 2 things around here...Guns (Remington Arms) and a cool little Vegetable Chopper. Other than that, we have quite a few Halls of Fame. We have Baseball, Boxing, Running and yesterday I found out we have the Soccer Hall of Fame. I think the rest are just riding the coattails of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
