Selling Ringtones and stuff for cell phones?
 

I watched my neighbor buying all kinds of ringtones and stuff for his phone. Actually I watched him buy a bunch of stuff and then not be able to figure out how to get it to his phone.

So I added Cellular crap to my link list.

Has anyone tried selling any of this stuff? Tips, suggestions, what works?

I dont know nothing about it. But my personnal opinon is that I just bought a ring tone yesterday for the very first time. I think its surly a new, good market. Im not sure how I feel about any of the other stuff IE movies and live broadcast. But the wall paper and rings tones I think would sell well.

I've meaning to work doing this into my to-do list that doesn't seem to stop getting bigger by the day! lol

its seems so stupid

well its handy to have an other sound in your phone then the rest of the people, you will noticed sooner its your phone who is ringing and not from somebody else, now for games on the phone..for me toooooooo small to play an game, but the stuff is very populair, seems that most persons from age 10 have an mobile phone, btw there are very funny ringtones, a friend of mine has a ringtones of loud laughing, i cant help it but when his phone goes of i will choke from laughter :D

for real i never have bought an ringtone or an thing for my phone, i have already trouble to find an phone number in that thing, i think ringtones and all would go to an group with an certain age, but yep its money :D

My rich neighbor buys a bunch each week and also desktop naked girl pics for his phone. He also buys ringtones and then sends them as gifts to his friend's and daughter's phones.

Luna's kids, 14 & 18, also buy ringtones and games for their phones.

They also sell themes for phones. The one that my Sony Ericsson came with was hideous. I would have bought a new theme for my phone but I like the free one that T-mobile gave me. It's really boring but easy on the eyes. I would imagine that others would buy one of the adult or kid themes that they sell.

Also in other parts of the world the 3G phones, or whatever they are called, can do a lot more, like play video.

I did buy one ringtone for my phone to see how it all works. So far I'm out $1.99 and still don't have my ringtone. I see that they are sent via messaging WAP push and I don't think I had my phone set right, not sure. I did send an email asking about it but have not heard back yet. So my first ringtone buying experience has not been too great. :D

I've just been looking for other things to sell besides naked pics. Not sure if porn traffic really buys other things. I've sold enough herbal goods so far to buy a pizza and a beverage. At least I did on paper since I'm still below my minimum payout but I've only had it online for less then a month.

Sex toys do sell but just enough for party money.

Guess I could add in a bunch of the more adult things that Amazon sells but I've never made one cent with Amazon links through I have a lot more traffic now so maybe I should try again.

What else would be good to try to sell to porn traffic?

Tommy you have more traffic them just about any of us. I'm surprised that you haven't started adding in links to other things. At least sex toys or something like that.

I don't really like "Cellular" but can't think of a better name that is short for ringtones, screen savers, games and other cell phone stuff.

Right now I'm just mixing them in with my other listings but if I get enough goods to sell I may do a Merchandise category page or something. Also it would be easy for me to pull listings from this database to a mainstream list or something on another domain.

Tommy this is a good market. The pet rock was stupid to but took off and who ever started that is still sitting in a larger house then me. lol. But seriously I'm 35 and have a few younger friends 25, 23. And thos two stick heads are constantly changing their ring tones and wall paper. I aksed them whats the big deal and their comment to me was $1.25 is nothing. One friend had to be averaging $15.00 per month with that crap. Nice thing that someone else pointed here. It's not Porn but will prob sell pretty good. And you dont have to deal with allot of the legal crap from it. Think of all those little 10 year olds walking around with a cell that money and daddy pay for but they can text message and DL all that stuff. I would not be surpised some of those kids have an allowance just for phone crap.

The only issue I see with ringtones is that they're low dollar purchases and the surfer probably isn't going to buy a bunch of them. I've got "Mr. Crowley" on my phone, I paid $1.95 for it and I probably won't buy another one unless I get a new phone. Then again, that's just me...and there may well be people out there who like to change their ringtone and wallpaper more often than their underwear.

One use of buying ringtones is that you can assign different rings to different people so you know who is calling without having to look at your phone. My neighbor’s phone sounds like an orgy of about twenty different woman. lol

I got a sex toy and adult products page and gonnna fill it up with whatever I can find, and money is money even if it takes 6 to 8 months to get a check from some odd ball affiliate product program thats fine with me..

oh and I hate those ring tones also I think there the stupidest thing on a cell phone and my wife and bro in law has some of the most annoying ones I've heard and when there phone rings I like to smash the phone...

I signed up with thinkgeek.com's affiliate program but as of yet I have not been approved. I have a feeling that they don't like my porn link list but who knows. I remember back when Apple came out with an affiliate program for iTunes I got declined because I'm one of those nasty porn people. I do think unusual type stuff like thinkgeek sells would sell to to my college age surfers.

Personally I don't have any experience in selling that stuff but here in europe it must sell like crazy - german MTV and another german music channel VIVA got nothing but ringtones (and other stuff for cellphones) commercials - it's fucking crazy but it's really hard to watch other commercial on those channels - I think there are two major companies involved in his biz and they buy whole, and I really mean it, commercials time
I know there are some kinds of abos so it's like reccuring in some meaning but don't really know details as I've never bought or sold any ringtone
All I know it must be next, after porn, money maker these days (at least in europe)

|jackinthe |waves| I bought a new cell phone just so I would have the latest technology I have 40 or 50 pictures stored and just don't have the patience it takes to to enter in my email address with those little bitty buttons to download them, so I'm just wasteing $10 a month for a service I'll never use. I know there has to be good money in ringtones and screen savers becouse about a year ago a company took out a full page add in the main TJ newspaper and it has been running every since, I had the wife call the newspaper to find out how much a full page add costs and their paying $400 a day
Kaktus and I were talking about RSS feeds and search engines last week and he admits to me that he signed up as an affiliate to a cell phone site becouse they have have turnkey sites and are doing some major SEO for their affiliates and have some very creative uses of RSS Feeds, he then discovered that he had 4 top 10 listings on Yahoo and had made $14 not bad for a 10 minute setit and forgetit type thing :D

Tommy I can agree with you it sounds stupid to me too. But then again I worked in the music industry so what do i nkow. The same industry that is now wondering why kids are shelling out bucks for a low quality clip from a song for thier cellphone whereas they won`t break loose a few pennies more to download or buy the whole song or entire cd. It`s a confusing market but the reasearch in a word says "to individualize". I was just talking the same thing regarding fancy computer cases with lights and all with a few other webmasters. A good thing to remember when marketing such things too.

I have a link to ringtones and wallpapers on my TGP for some months now, and I'm doing so la-la - but better than with many banner spots on TGP pages - seems like surfers are just blind to them. When I started it I thought of it just as extra money not competing with anything.

I can't remember where I read the details but I do recall reading that there will be more money spent online this year on ringtones and the like then on porn! All those people spending $1.50 adds up I guess.
