General link list question.

I just received a decline from 4links. I don't know if he lurks on this board so if anyone wants to try and answer this question for me I'd appreciate it.

He says "Only one ENTER link on the front page of your site please. This includes wording on banners also."

Can one of you fine link list owners or master submitters try to explain this in more detail to my dumbass?

I want to be a master.

Thanks,
Kit

If you give us a link to the page I'm sure we can clear it up for you. |rasta|

While it's posted, what do you think? Can I do something to make the site better?
Thanks

The "enter now" on the big ad you have at the top of the page would be considered by most to be a misleading/blind enter link. The general consensus is that the only place on a free site page that says "enter" should be the link to enter the rest of the site for the free pics.

The same pretty much goes for any link to a sponsor that says something like "click here for more pics" without it being plainly obvious to the surfer that they'll be going to a pay site. So a link to a sponsor that says "click here for more pics" is a blind link, but a link that says "click here for more great pics at sponsorname.com" is just fine. It's basically all about not misleading the surfer. Same goes for the "click here for live lesbian action" link...if it said "click here for live lesbian action at sponsorname.com" it would be fine.

Another quick note, most LLs (including mine) restrict outgoing links on content pages to 3, (exempting a 2257 links and recip links to link lists). So some LLs (not all) would decline your site because they'd consider the link at the bottom of the page to your public-nudity dot net main page as a fourth outgoing link.

Hope this was helpful, and always feel free to ask anything around here. |rasta|

Otherwise, if those issues were settled I'd be happy to list the site at Fetish Philes, and the thumbs and content look top notch.

When I want to use an ad like that on my warning page I just fix it real fast in Photoshop.

That is an awful big ad to use on your warning page BTW.

I totally understand this. Thanks so much for helping, I would of never figured that one out. I want to continue submitting free sites and of course I want to please as many LL as possible but at the same time not go crazy doing it.
Thanks again,
Kit

Thanks for the tip and the new banner. Time to fix stuff.

You'll find that while every link list owner has certain preferences and pet peeves, you can tune a site to be accepted by about 90%-95% of link lists and still have plenty of room for creative design and good sales.

As a link list gets bigger you generally see more rules, since submissions run high and the owner can afford to be more strict, thus increasing the quality of the sites they list, because there is more competition for listings.

The main reason for this is to keep the surfers happy and keep them coming back to the link list. That's why most of us are so paranoid about making sure the sites we list aren't misleading surfers. For example, if I have a bookmarked surfer who shows up to my site on a regular basis to surf some porn, and he suddenly hits a run of sites on Fetish Philes that are full of popups, misleading links and other BS, he's going to stop visiting MY site...thus taking perfectly good traffic away from every site I list.

Greenguy's rules on link-o-rama are a good baseline. Link-o-rama is one of the biggest and baddest link lists around, and if you follow his rules you'll be inside the lines for most link lists. It's still important to read the rules of every list you submit to, but if you build your sites wisely you'll find that you can mirror them and submit the same site to dozens (sometimes hundreds) of different link lists without changing a thing.

Welcome to the mad, mad, mad, mad world of the adult biz!

In your first table try to put cellspacing to something like 5. Looks better and is easier to read.

Also if you chop that big ad pic to pieces, it will make surfers to believe it loads faster. Well, it loaded fast to me here in Finland, but I have super hyper fast ADSL. It may have been not so fast with 56k modem as that ad is 54k something.

I use PhotoImpact from Ulead to do that, but there may be some free proggies too. Anyone know?

In your galleries the text are aligned to center and all linked. It's hard to read. This is only my humble opinion, but text aligned left and then big text link to sponsor below the text is easier to read and look much better.

Remember, I am not a LL owner, not even a reviewer, so all this is just one man's thoughts.

I was just wondering if whoever owns 4Linx reads these boards? If so I have emailed you a couple of times. Just wondering why my sites haven't been getting listed. My ICQ is 218825998 or you can pm me here. Thanks!
