Do You promote any toons?

Its one of the biggest markets right now on the internet, I just finished reading an article on it and the statistics are surprising!

Heres the results of the keyword searches:
Cartoon porn = 3,190,000

Anime porn = 3,260,000

Erotic toons = 1,570,000

Hentai = 29,200,000

So how many of you here are actually taking advantage of this toon "niche" and trying to make money from it & if you are how's it converting?

gideon 2007-06-27 03:08 PM

Toons is a great niche! I designed 3 BYOTs in that niche over at ARS and 2 of them are pretty solid converters for me (and from my stats they must do decent for others as well)

I also have a few Toon sites I promote through ccbill. And they do really well.

Unfortunately, most of the sites in the toon niche at the bigger sponsors are just not done right at all and just do not get the kind of conversions that you really want for it to be worth it. So you really have to dig around for the good anime, hentai, manga, toon, sites. I have a decent list if anyone needs some good toon sponsors.

send em over please :-)
tommy@tommys-bookmarks.com

your so right about the sponsors not knowing much about toons

its always a good seller for me when I have a good sponsor

Greenguy 2007-06-27 03:51 PM

I'd bet that a majority of the people that hang around here promote toon sites in one way or another.

...and Tommy - anytime you need some sponsor suggestions, feel free to look at my stats :D

I always look at your stats
I even looked at em before you had this board|jester|
mr... delight, if ya catch my drift :D
I have proably signed up for like... 30 to 50 sponsors thru your stats

gideon 2007-06-27 04:41 PM

Hey Tommy,
This isn't all of them (I am busy cooking up some Shepherds Pie :D) but these are my favorites. I will get on a little later and put up the rest. I would say Hentai Boss is overall the best, but all of these are good.

Peace,

gideon - Tommy asked you to email them to him - otherwise, this thread might turn into a hentai sponsor |spam|fest

I make galleries for the Hentai Boss sites, they do alright for me.

It's a highly demanded niche, but like Gideon said, it's hard for the major sponsors to properly get on board.

My guess is it has to do with the amount of content available out there. There isn't enough. Some sites' members area don't have much. I guess they use their toon signups in hopes of getting people into the rest of their "network" of sites, the non-toon/hentai stuff.

BOONESTOONS 2007-06-28 11:19 AM

I'll try posting this again.

I've been doing toons since '96. I make my own so my overhead is zilch. The conversions are awesome and retention as well.

When you make your own content it's easier to negotiate. I was doing this part-part time as I work in other areas of the media and law. Now that I have some time freed up I can do it full time and with all the goodies offered at various webmaster sites and affiliate companies the sky's the limit.

Every day I get requests to do toon content. Problem is I don't have the time.

Getting good cartoonists is rare. Doing adult entertainment takes knowledge and if you don't know what you're doing the toons look tarded-out.

There's also the major danger of buying content that's not legit. I can't count how many times I've been on the phone with pals in Japan about their stuff being blasted all over the web without their permission.

Some guys hire cheap labor in the far east and pay the artists a pittance. Then the work looks crappy and sales are shit.

Good work, good allies in the business will always win out. Listening to what the surfers want is also a big, big step forward. I have to cover over 10 niches alone and still can't keep up with demand. I would have to draw 12 hours a day for a year straight just to catch up with demand.

Good news is if you do get that niche solid, the surfers stay and stay and stay.

There are some great cartoonists out there. Best thing to do is get in touch with them, no agencies or reps, and negotiate a package. Sometimes instead of money I'll trade for traffic or equipment or other parlays. It really turns out great! I've gotten free hotels, tools, tickets etc.

Barter system is still a good system.

So the key is to shop and do due diligence with whom you purchase from.

I was going to build a site for ARS but I've got lots of work to catch up on and new computer programs to study.

It's true. Original content in any niche has potential, and original toon content is probably a gold mine.

It's true!

I don't have to pay models, labor costs, legals. Just an artpad and scanner and photoshop. None of that model age verification nonsense either.

I work in mainstream comics and animation/tv/movies/radio. I did this site as a protest and a joke but after just a few days it started making money! My site is different because I teach how to draw so much of my site time is emailing back and forth or IMming students and video conferencing drawing etc. Made lots of friends!

I need to do more gallery submitting and go back to finishing up my affiliate program.

Just a few tweaks and I'll have some awesome content and affiliate program for webmasters.

I have like 4 graphics/animation software programs I'm studying at same time. I need to hire a small staff but I'm busy re-studying real estate and financing too. A full plate!

Not putting all your eggs in one basket, smart. :)

The truth is, if the bulk of us tried our hand at drawing, the best we'd probably come up with is stick figures or emoticons bumping uglies |assfuck|

Edit: (what animation programs are you learning?)

gideon 2007-06-28 12:24 PM

Greenie - Sorry I read his post too fast. And you were right about it turning into a spamfest |loony|

Well the two big programs are Flash and then Maya.

Maya is a super advanced 3D animation software monster. It's what most movie studios use to do those CG movies (computer generated movies) like Happy Feet or Cars or the new one Surf's Up.

The menu board on this thing makes the Space Shuttle's dashboard look like a VW Bug's dashboard.

The only problems I've ever run into while doing toons on the web outside of the normal stuff are the greedy, hateful competitors. They just don't get the fact that there's an abundance of surfers no need to sabotage one another. Them guys usually get beat down and end up on crack in Vegas bumming money.

GonZo 2007-06-29 08:53 AM

Beware toon pay sites with 35 image sets and 6 AFF upsells.

I've never tried promoting toons, never really even seen any affiliates with it not that I was looking.

gideon 2007-06-29 10:46 PM

4theloveofdough - I tried emailing you but it was rejected. Want it in a PM?

4thaloveofdough 2007-06-29 10:57 PM

yeah that would be fine. Thanks a bunch.

BOONESTOONS 2007-06-29 10:59 PM

Heck, I ought to revive my toon affiliate program.

lemme ask you guys now, what's a good figure you would want as an affiliate per signup?

Smutferret 2007-06-30 01:13 AM

Hey gideon,

I'd like a copy of those sponsors, just send them in a PM if you would...:)

Regards,
SF

I'd LIKE to promote toons.....
Anyone know of any content made in a VR/First person Perspective/ POV/ Gonzo style?
I have yet to see that.
I have customers wanting it.

HEY!
I just saw your picture somewhere......and no, it wasn't the post office or Krispy Kreme's best customer list.

Hey EJ.

I have content like that but it's no longer available for licensing. I can show it to you though and if you like I can make some custom stuff if possible.

Yes, I'd like to take a look at it.

And "no longer available for licensing?" What does that mean? I know it hasn't been licensed for our intended use, 'cause, we didn't license it, and we are the only licensee in the world in our field.

So, I'd be interested to know what the scoop is on that.
