Women Surfing Porn ??

I was curious if anyone has any stats as to just what percentage of women actually surf for porn ?

Cleo 2006-02-10 10:15 AM

I spend all my working day looking at porn…

Toby 2006-02-10 10:20 AM

I've not seen any hard numbers, but I've seen several discussions re: selling porn to women. The general consensus was that a while a fair number of women do surf porn, a far lower percentage of them actually buy porn compared to men.

Greenguy 2006-02-10 10:23 AM

According to one of those unpleasant other threads, it's 20%

Homer: Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14 percent of all people know that.

100% of the women who surf my sites :D

susanna 2006-02-10 12:33 PM

How can anyone really know...especially if they are not buying...finding something they want.

So what we have gathered so far...

approximately 53% of surfers are female.
approximately 20-30% of those joining various types of porn sites seem to be female ie. using female cards

my guesses....

approximately 50% of all females that surf have paid for porn
approximately 75% of all females that surf have paid for something online
approximately 25% of all members I have in Couples Sex (a site for men and women ie couples) could be women using male credit cards.
approximately 30% of members in a for women site may be gay guys.

I would say that women are not finding what they want to see in the sea of porn for men and so they give up trying. They also may not let their trial memberships accidentally rebill and they may not stay longer then one month at a time ie they might return but only for one month. There are many that do rebill for long periods but its not in a womans nature to pay for something they are not using.

None of the niches within women are being marketed too. The easy ones....Mature, Story, MMF, FFM, Group, Big Cock talking to women who like them not saying things like "watch her ass split open or her cunt bleed" Older Men, and many more.

"For Women" porn is nothing but a bore to my wife. She's more of a "slap my ass and fuck me like you're paying for it" type of gal. She doesn't surf porn, but when she watches me work, she has stated that the 'normal' hardcore stuff is somewhat enticing and extreme hardcore (cum, dp, etc) is crap.

If DVD sales at online stores is any indication I would have to agree with susanna as the reports I get from my affiliate videos store show at least 50% of the sales are going to women's names.

with asking my friends and girls friends some time ago:
from the married couples: the woman never looked for for woman porn (yeah right)
from my lesbian gilfriends: they only like to see guys having sex with each other (Stu went WOW)
from my single girlfriends : they like hard sex with a guy and some like the sensual sex with a guy, they look at every single guy if he is good looking gay or straight( i realy dont know what i should do with that)
from my grandma: she will grab all ( just hopeless and goddamn i have an pervert in the fam)
woman surfing porn, i tried to figure out but its so hard, my girlfriends have all different views about that one, it just depends on the kind of woman, i myself just like to see a guy in tight jeans , others like to see soccer players,(they love those legs of the soccer players, which mean they will just go the the site of the players and get horny and its not even porn) i just gave up,,,woman are not easy to follow....did i say that, nop i didnt :D

My neighbor always has porn on the TVs. If he leaves the room I'll put on the science channel or the scifi channel. If I try to watch it I always fall asleep.

I sell porn for a living but it really is beyond me why anyone, men or women or anything in between watches porn.

Disclaimer,
I may be a bit jaded. :D

yep i believe that woman surf and buy porn, only what kind of porn i cant figure out.........damn woman, did i say that again, no i didnt :D

Ms Naughty 2006-02-10 06:42 PM

No, of course not. Women hate porn. Women aren't visual. "For Women" porn is all about flowers, dicks and no penetration. Go away and leave me alone!!!! LOL

Nielsen Netratings, October 2003: 28% of all porn surfers are women.

In September 2003 9.4 million American women accessed porn intentionally.

A 2003 survey in Today's Christian Woman revealed that 34% of those good, churchgoing ladies intentionally sought out porn.

July 2003: A Maxim survey said 75% of women interviewed like porn films.

September 2004: 53% of women surveyed said they'd happily look at porn at work if it was on a collegue's computer.

Haven't been able to find any more recent stats but I think we can assume that in the two and a bit years since the Nielsen survey that the number of porn surfing women has increased.

This is a trade secret, of course.

anasporn 2006-02-10 08:22 PM

Ooops...my bad there, Karen ;) Yes, yes, what Grandma Scrotum said...women NEVER look for porn LOL
That being said...two sites that I have had sales on already (been working women erotica niche for all of a month now!):

But when they buy, they stick around for a long time ! Usually they forget about it or how to cancel and they are to shy to ask VIsa/Master by the phone |jester|

Ms Naughty 2006-02-13 02:08 AM

I found this article:
http://www.lse.co.uk/ShowStory.asp?s...s_own_sex_toys

"Whilst both sexes, women (70 per cent) and men (83 per cent), say that watching hardcore action turns them on, only one-in-five females believe they find them more stimulating than men, while 43 per cent of men believe they find them more stimulating than women."

The article makes for interesting reading. Seems the Brits are keen on their porn. Unfortunately I don't know who conducted the survey so it's hard to work out how objective or accurate the data is.

anasporn 2006-02-13 08:17 AM

"the survey also reports that the UK ’s top three sexual fantasies are threesomes, sex with a stranger and the tricky task of getting it on while skydiving"
While SKYDIVING? How the hell do they expect to pull that one off??

Garywell 2006-02-13 08:50 AM

Just checked up billing transactions stats for last week. I've found 3 women sign ups in amount of about 150. Seems that surf for porn but too little.|bow|

One of the things here not discussed is the situation of house husbands and poorer / no credit husbands.

You cannot make the assumption that the person using the credit card is exactly the same person who's name appears on the card. Considering the number of personal bankrupcies and such in the last 10 years, it wouldn't be out of line for a man to use a wife's credit card or a girlfriend's card rather than his own.

I know that many women enjoy porn, but they wouldn't admit it in a crowd of people.

that's true - I'll assume (yes I know what it spells :D) that a lot of male porn purchasers do it in secret, hide it from the wife etc. If I was to buy porn, it would be like -ok honey, found a site I want to try, give me your credit card :D
So even though technically I'm buying it, it'll be his name on the records hehe ;)

I think it'd be hard to really get an accurate # from just cc info.

LB 2006-02-13 12:53 PM

We have quite a number of female signups to a couple of our sites (voyeur in particular). Probably depends on the niche, but for the voyeur site its at least 20% women.

Ms Naughty 2006-02-13 06:21 PM

LB, it definitely depends on the niche, I think, and the way the porn is presented.

Credit cards aren't the best method of telling who is using porn because of the reasons mentioned above. You should remember, however, that there are plenty of younger single women out there with their own CC cards, a computer at home and time on their hands.
