Here's a screencap of the entire email chain so no one can accuse me of misquoting anyone.
I get this in the mail: Quote:

What a bunch of douchebags. |catfight|

Hmmm thats pretty nasty tactics really - and shouldnt in any way be needed for them
|
I used to promote a lot of the programs that joined them and then stopped when I could no longer get any sort of promo materials at all. Even banners are out of the question. I asked for 1 iframe promoting lesbians only and got one back that had everything but lesbians in it. Totally non-responsive. And yes, their current trick is extortion.

Jel figured that one for sure ... but its hard to see anything being done about it - maybe theyll be "grand" and fix it for you but the practice likely continues in general.
...and realistically theres only a sense of fairplay in their way, it isnt illegal or shady, just a bit shitty. Especially given their near monopoly in the market |

In my case, they are technically not doing anything illegal in that dummy never registered his name as a trademark (long story, shitty lawyer, it may be on here someplace). But if I did, then it'd be illegal. It is shady as fuck & incredibly shitty. I know this makes me sound old, but I really fucking miss the days when 95% of the people you dealt with were just that: people. This entire fucking industry has become way too corporate. |
Shady and shitty, not sure if even trademarking would protect against it
-> it would require being able to explain to a judge the fine point distinctions Jel introduced vs a "we cant control what users search for or the tags introduced by uploaders, but we remove it immediately when it is brought to our attention" Either way, even if they had to dump the specific practice these corporations have the sheer volume to crush us all in 100 different ways. Kudos to you for sticking it to them, but turn the next page and they will be monopolizing in some other way Quote:

I'm way too angry to format the last 2 posts, so here:

Astonishing.
If they dont want to actually fix it, why not at least generic spindoctoring: "We have removed your terms from our index and have deployed resources to clean out all such terms that accidentally or otherwise target the keywords of other companies. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will keep you posted on the progress" ...and then of course just remove yours and never keep anyone posted (unless actually feeling a bit shitty about it, but thats probably beyond reach) Which board is that btw? |
It's a private adult webmaster board that I somehow got invited to join. Mostly industry vets of some sort & current big wigs. I don't know the rules so I'm being very vague lol

I am seriously wondering where they get the search terms. When a clip is submitted, you are only given 12 on some of their sites, (20 on others) tags you can use. The channel or account may throw others in there, but they are relevant. Even the description field is about 75 characters so you cant fit all these words there. PornHub has to be adding them on their side. Pretty crappy way to do business. If the submitters are not using Greenguy in their tags or descriptions, where is he getting the term? Makes me never want to submit anything to them or use their clips anywhere else. It also seems to be only PornHub.. hmmmm...

Just an update that Corey at Pornhub as me to contact him, so we took it to email. He asked what results I wanted him to remove, so I sent him this link:
https://www.google.com/search?q=site...b.com+greenguy He came back & asked what specific URLs I wanted removed, so I sent him this text file: http://www.link-o-rama.com/PornhubGr...rchResults.txt |
IM guessing they use semrush or a custom software to scan competitors search terms and popular sites and add the necessary code to take over our collective urls.
