Epassporte worth the hassle?

I have always used an AVS processor in the past for my website membership and rebilling.

Now a content provider with a lot of video I want to purchase has presented my with two payment options:

1. Epassporte
2. Wire Transfer

I signed up for an Epassporte account to pay the content provider, but the required paperwork for getting the account is longer than the requirements to get my US passport.

I don't think it's worth the trouble to dig up, format and then send all this business and personal info to Epassporte to just pay a frickin' bill.

What am I missing? Is the Epassporte account so great as to be worth the hassle? I am seriously just thinking of paying the money by wire transfer and eating that cost.

The whole thing has delayed my website launch by more than a week and I am getting frustrated. |banghead|

Do any porn gurus or enlightened webmasters have any advice?

I never use epassport or wire transfer. I would make sure it is a very well know content provider before paying by either of those methods.
I dont think ive came accross many providers that didnt take cc's
Id be very careful

Does adultsexcontent.com have a history of problems? They are the content broker and those are the only payment options they accept.

I haven't heard anything bad about them, but that doesn't mean anything. This is the porn biz.

They have some great shemale solo video (my niche), but I guess trusting someone who doesn't take credit cards is dicey.

Ive never used them, they look legit. But i dont see why they dont take credit cards. Thats just always been a red flag in my book.
Contact their support and ask. It cant hurt.

F*ck it. I am sending a wire transfer. ePassporte wants too damn much paperwork. It was easier to get my business bank account and tax ID numbers than to fill out everything they want and then wait.

I need to get moving on this launch.

Are you starting a business epassporte account?

i got my personal epassporte account a few years back - it's been almost no hassle, and I don't remember having to do much more than the verification stuff.

All you need in most cases is the personal account. Content purchases for instance.

I purchased a lot of content last year from several different content suppliers, all using Epass, and never had a problem. And as Bill said, getting a personal account is really easy. (I still think having two separate Epass numbers, electron card and virtual, is a HUGE FUCKING POINTLESS PAIN IN MY GODDAMN ASS.)

Yeah, but if I pay for the content with a personal account, tracking my expenses gets screwy. I want to pay for content from my business checking, not my personal. How the heck am I supposed to write off content on corporate taxes while I am paying for it from my personal checking?

Lousy bookkeeping and a large pain in my ass.

Obviously I am too impatient and too small. When my cash flow is larger I will bother with the paperwork. I had an easier time and less paperwork getting a merchant account and a portable radio dialing credit card machine for a different business.

Thanks for the shout backs. I am not knocking ePassporte, but they are obviously for bigger players than me. When I need an account from them, I'll count it as a milestone.

Meanwhile, wire transfer it is.

Well, when i started mine, as i recall I loaded it with my business credit card. The card treated it as a cash advance, and charged me the cash advance fee, which i then wrote off as a necessary cost of establishing the account.

For me the business credit card is the equivalent of a business checking account.

The few times I have to write checks for things, I do write them from my personal account, making notes for the business record of check numbers & amounts & purposes etc for the taxman.

I don't have the same philosophy for organizing this kind of business as you, so my experiences presumably dont apply.

I am not a porn guru or enlightened but I did manage to actually get a personal epass account and it wasn't that hard to set up. As far as the content that I've bought it was bought from providers that took cc's. So I would say if you plan on buying a lot more content in the future maybe you should do the bussiness epass account since you said you wanted to be able to track it. If you don't plan on buying much content then maybe just do the wire transfer.

I like getting paid through epassporte by sponsors.

I know this is an old post.. but I have an epassporte question... how does it work when someone tries to pay you more than your daily maximum load amount?

cthulhu_waves 2010-04-28 10:51 AM

Maybe you should contact Michael in epassporte. He will gladly answer your queries (if it's worth answering). He's very accommodating.

Business ePassporte accounts do in fact require a stack of paperwork that would make even the most hardened bureaucrat feel like running. At $JOB we got one to pay out freelancers, and $BOSS and me had about an hour or two of filling junk out and then a long wait to get okayed.

A personal ePassporte account, on the other hand, takes all of 30 minutes.

Also a reason why many content stores don't accept CC's is that most 3rd party billers that accept adult are not set up for paying for "goods", and most 3rd party billers that interface very well with an eCommerce store don't allow adult (Paypal, Moneybookers, etc.)

It a pain in the ass to get an account, but a majority of people in this biz use it.

if you think at this from an affiliate point of view you will change your opinion
