The first one I remember was run by Joe Holler. But for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called. That is a tough one since there were a few around before I started even surfing.

Was it holler.net or holler2.com?

Black couch and keg in the booth... I miss Joe!

The 1st site I know of that would be considered a Link List be today's standards (linking to only free sites) was PK. Richard was next & as everyone knows, I copied my site from him :D

If you can beat the atlanta BBS list I authored back in the late 80's then you are right.

Gonzo... I remember reading about a BBS named LolasLair in Playboy article back when I was in the Army... They put in the phone number and was able to tell it was based in my small hometown grew up in... Then got out the hometown phone book and manually went through it looking for who had the line (told ya town was small)... lol

Hahaha I know Laura Brito.
One of their early CDs has a set of a pool party that we had here on the hells of OneBBSCon in Atlanta. The last one I think.

She and Joe Crosby ran a QWK based message network called Throbnet.
Both are from your neck of the woods.

I was the super regional hub for this end of the country.
Before it ended we were passing email via QWK, Fidonet and when I plugged in directly to the newsgroups.

If you look at some of the old usenet messages you can still see the GonzoLand BBS tagline on a LOT of messages.

Here it is listed on the ABBL as early as 1988.
http://www.df.lth.se/~pi/compis/file...2/the-list.102

I ended up maintaining that list a few years later.
