declined, any ideas?

i submitted this site/template to about 80 linklists and jerkingresources declined me siting too many outbound links on warning page....any ideas?

this is what they say on their rules page (No more than 3 banners/links to sponsors on each page). do you think they are counting the top banner as more than one outbound link? i thought this was acceptable as one link? any thoughts, have not heard back from them yet but thought i might get some good feedback from you guys too...

Mateusz 2009-02-06 10:12 AM

Even if they dont you have 4 links
top banner
banner in the middle
link under recip table
link under enter link

abatis 2009-02-06 10:15 AM

under recip table? thats part of the recip table as it points to my freesite hub.

But it's counted as an outgoing link by most if not all LL owners

abatis 2009-02-06 10:22 AM

i submitted over 50 freesites with my recip tables like that and have never been declined for it.

abatis 2009-02-06 10:24 AM

for example here is one that was submitted earlier in the week and was accepted, it's almost the same template...

Mateusz 2009-02-06 10:37 AM

What else you want me to say?
As I said its common practice to count link to your hub as an outgoing link, though some webmasters (including me) will tolerate slight deviations from the rules in the site looks nice and clean

Anyway.. it would be good idea to ask owner of that site personally

Licker4U 2009-02-06 10:39 AM

Might change the background color so it looks more like it's part of the recip table and change the wording so it looks more like a LL recip. Something like "Paysites 4 Free Porn Links".

i don't know i just don't understand why the one site was accepted and the one was not, i was hoping cucumber would make an appearance i guess at some point to clarify the problem. they just seem like the same set up so i don't get why you would accept one and not the other. also as for the recip link thing, they have accepted all of my other sites except this one so it seems weird that it would be that. the recip table has not changed the whole time i have been submitting to them. and there is always 3 outgoing links to the sponsor so just a bit confused, maybe they were just being nice before i don't know i guess til we hear something. thanks for your thoughts though mateusz, of course.

Reviewers do not catch everything, so if one got accepted & one got declined, be happy that they were not both declined.

This text: PAYSITES4FREE.COM'S BONUS PORN LINKS - that's an ad link, regardless of what it's going.

ok, well regardless of what we hear from cucumber than about that site in particular it sounds like i need to fix that recip regardless. as licker said would making it more like a recip link text be acceptable as a recip or is it because it is mine it will always be counted as an ad? sounds like you cannot link to your own hub without it counting as an ad, am i understanding that correctly?

I've emailed cucumber on occasion and got a quick response. You might try that as he might not frequent the board as often as some of us.

Links back to your hub, as Mateusz pointed out, are usually considered and outgoing link...it's not uncommon for reviewers to have different levels of tolerance on different days, different sites.

Greenguy 2009-02-06 11:09 AM

THAT'S NOT A RECIP!

You can link to your hub, but most places count that as 1 of the ad links.

Maya 2009-02-06 11:10 AM

It has been discussed several times before, and I think the common rule is, that a link to your hub is counted as an ad and counts towards the allowed three links per page.

I do use a recip to my own LL on the reciptable as well some times, but only on ONE mirror/reciptable - the one I then submit to my own LL.

abatis 2009-02-06 12:22 PM

ok, thanks a lot everyone for taking time to comment. sounds like i have been getting a little lucky than with my reviews. guess i need to rethink how i build my recip tables. it sounds like it might be best to just leave the link off altogether only other option being one less link to sponsor....either way i have some recip tables to fix. thanks again and i am very sorry to everyone about this mistake, i honestly am not trying to mess with anyones rules and this hopefully will be viewed as an honest mistake.

Yes that link to your hub is the "problem", it is and always was, in most places, the link that is considered as an ad.
Greenie said it right... "Reviewers do not catch everything, so if one got accepted & one got declined, be happy that they were not both declined."
It may be that I just reviewed every letter on this particular free site this time and actually found you had one extra link. Please fix it for the future submissions, those I already accepted will stay online of course.

Cheers

excellent news. i thought i was placing ads inappropriately. again just want to thank everyone for helping me. i didn't realize i was making this mistake, so thanks to cucumber for catching me. i will get the problem fixed right away. in my defense i am still on the lower end of the learning curve and this is another lesson learned so a good day at least.

abatis one point you may want to consider...if you are intending to contact a link list owner here on the boards with a thread, it is usually a good idea to mention that linklist in the title of the thread ;)
Not everyone uses the link tracker or reads every thread on the board :)

Unless it was one of my lists - because I'd drop your submit account for that. (Don't worry, you don't submit to me.)

And no, I don't care what other link list owners think of that. |thumb

I agree with Useless. Threads on this board tend to make it fairly high in the SE's.

i hope the way i went about it was acceptable to those involved.|bow|
maybe in the future ill try to just ask the question without naming names in the threads, that could have gotten across in email than they would know to come see the thread without their name/s being mentioned, thanks for the lessons today everyone.

as of now the site has been fixed so anyone reading this late won't see the error, in fact if this thread was removed entirely i would be fine with that. thanks again for the help everyone.

One think you did well.
You came here and ask.
Many submitters don't response to LL owners rejection emails at all
( when you don't know why it got rejected ) and they keep submitting fs with the same errors over and over.

my 2 cents

NY Jester 2009-02-06 04:20 PM

Abatis, the others above me have touched on this already but a link out to your hub is a outbound link. Just something to think about with the "fixed" page. You now actually have 5 outbound links to your sponsors, so in doing so you may have caused yourself more of an issue with some LL's.

1 -Top square banner
2 -click here in top text
3 -middle banner
4 -get hi res samples middle of page
5 -claim your lifetime pass under the enter

You also have 4 outbound links on your main and both gallery pages. Just something to think about.
