Sunday January 28th (aka Another Open House)

Morning! |waves|

I pretty much worked all day yesterday until around 4:30 when about 5 outside distractions caused me to throw my hands up in the air & go fuck off on the couch. I do love working from home, even though everyone in the world thinks you can just stop what you're doing at the drop of a hat & take care of their issue |angry|

I have a 6 month ad coming up for renewal, so I emailed him about renewing & offered a discount on a year. Woke up this morning to see they took TWO 1 year ads, already paid me, and they're looking for 2 MORE 1 year ads. Looks like I can keep the doors open for a few more months |banana|

Open House today, so The Bitch will be waking up shortly to put me to work getting things ready, which really isn't that much because, as some of you know, she keeps a very tidy house :)

After that, the NHL All-Star Game is on, so it looks like I'll be fucjing off from work for most of the day |thumb

Yesterday was an absolute total disaster. My desktop computer with my entire brain on it decided that 6 long years of hard use was enough for that hard drive. It crashed hard. I did manage to get it to boot and have been feverishly moving files to storage just in case. The better half bought me a new computer for my birthday (not telling when or how many), and we will pick that up later in the week. Sites are all backed up already - it is all the other stuff that goes along with them that has me going nuts. Ah well.. it's a snowy day.

Today is also Finnish Presidential Election Day. Yep, they do it on a Sunday here, which is kinda nice. You don't have to take off of work to go vote. Our totally classy President should be re-elected even though he has plenty of others running and he chose to run as an independent. I will be stunned if he even has to go to a runoff.

So, back to the old zip and upload routine for the next day or so.. such fun.

Afternoon.

Went to bed again after our morning stroll and I slept until 1:30pm!
(Haven't slept for that long in ages, not even when I was (glugg glugg glugg) heavily.
Probably needed it....
So the plans for today went down the drain.
I decided to continue on an idea for a song that came to me yesterday only to find out something is wrong with an unknown driver, so I have to reinstall a lot of shit. (Maybe, just maybe, reinstall OS... )
Man, I consider reinvesting in an analog desk and a multitrack-tape recorder and go oldschool again...
anyhow, there's a new band forming, so I'll get that soon...|bananna|

Decided not to skip AA today either, so that'll take two hours.

One of the major benefits of having a text-based site is that it does pull quality traffic from the desired the nations. |thumb

I managed to figure what the issue was in my submission pages late last night, so I'm finally making progress on that front. Now, I need to simplify the page and remove all of the extra nonsense. Plus, the sites will need to be freshened up and and made responsive. So. Much. Fun. (I'm actually enjoying my hobby-ish re-entry into adult. I miss the old days.)

It's really strange how much you can achieve with so little. I'm coding and designing on a 9" netbook with 1 GB of RAM and a baby processor, running a free operating system. (And a corded mouse! |greenguy|) Why? Because I have to. I could boot the big desktop (that is built with a server motherboard), but that monster requires me to use the generator while this little bitch computer runs happily without sucking by battery bank dry.

The most difficult aspect of trying to work in this tiny space the that fucking puppy constantly changing position. She just HAS to sit with me. Fucking HAS to. |banghead|

I remember seeing something where it explained why we vote on Tuesdays. If I remember correctly, it used to be Sundays back in the 1800s because people had to travel great distances to get to their polling place & since they had Saturday's off, they could use that as a travel day. Then the church goers |angry| got all uppity about it being on a Sunday, so they moved it to Tuesdays. Why they didn't move it to Saturday when people were obviously off (travel day) is beyond me.

Which makes sense in some respects. It also didn't interfere with market days. Finland is primarily Lutheran, and we do have several church-based holidays that are recognized on the national level, like Epiphany, Ascension Day, and All Saint's Day. Yet, our national election day is on a Sunday. The church doesn't even protest it here. We do have early voting as well, and about 40% of the voters took advantage of it. Saturdays were still pretty much a work day on farms. At least on Sundays, everyone was out going to church (at least here) so stopping by the polling place was just easier. It works for us...
