Long Island got hit pretty hard - poor new york and new jersey - not that bad for me

I was protected from the winds by the hill north of me - sounded like a freight train roaring across the flatlands around me.

Long Island got smacked - so lets see if there is news from Tommy.

Sorry for all you folks on the coast.

I saw Barbie post some pics of downed trees on Facebook, so I have to assume he's ok.

Greenguy 2012-10-30 07:58 AM

Apparently, the storm has affected Barbie's ability to communicate thru text |lol|

Here's her latest Facebook post:

So does that video of the transformer exploding. I saw a pic too of guys on a bridge, looking down at the sign that said 12' clearance, and the water was up to the top of it. I can't imagine the cost of this storm on a city the size of New York City and all its Burroughs.

Hey Everyone
Some trees pulled down our electric service and some siding and a chimney is damaged

when I went outside this morning one of the trees from my backyard landed on the power lines and pulled them down

they are down on the ground but still live

I just stood there looking at the mess of power lines and branches
thinking I bet they are gonna charge me for this

so I got my chain saw and started cutting up the tree
Barbara screaming about the live lines but I was real strategic on how I cut it up
I even got the stump out

now you can tell something happened there but theres no sign of a tree :)

Maybe it was flying debris

Bill 2012-10-30 07:28 PM

good work man. those fuckers will charge you for everything at bloodsucking rates, lol.

sounds like you got thru about as well as could be expected.

Tommy 2012-10-30 07:30 PM

yeah.. we don't have house insurance cause we had a fire a few years ago that got ruled careless smoking as the cause
so... thats why I didn't wanna get stuck with a bill for power lines

Bill 2012-10-30 07:33 PM

kinda funny to see the newsmedia people suddenly talking like "ooops look like this global warming thing actually matters after all - it's not gonna be all roses and warmer winters...".

I have read and heard in a few places now - insurance for every homeowner in the country will be going up in the next few months, both to pay for this superstorm event, and as a reaction to new reports from the big insurance companies saying that US infrastructure is going to be hurt more by global warming than previously estimated.

I dont have home insurance either. But thats just because I'm cheap - and not as rich with porn money as I used to be, lol.

Tommy 2012-10-30 07:52 PM

after the fire the insurance went up from like 900 ish a year to 8000

whats ironic is my lines are down the pipes pulled off the house, poll bent over
and I have power .. most of the houses dont have power, when you go outside you can hear those 2 cycle engines of the generators running everywhere

I live on the West side of Manhattan and the water reached two blocks from my home then stopped, but I'm fortunate compared to so very many, went the whole week only without power and heat. Tomorrow we've got a nor'easter coming to town, the fun never stops in the big city.
