Anyone Not Running Bots Tomorrow?

Considering 2257 goes into effect at midnight and the FSC goes into court during the day tomorrow, I'm considering not running my BOT for the benefit of those who may very well pull sites tonight and put them back up before the end of the day tomorrow. Thoughts?

plateman 2005-06-22 09:48 PM

I am running mine for the 2nd time sometime before the mouring and deleting at that time and just let them resubmitt I am not taking any chances loosing my hard earned traffic - If I was on a porn site and hit more than 2 or 3 dead links I wouldn't be back plus just think if google bot comes by and sees 15 or more dead links when its your turn to get a killer listing for a keyword... I think I removed 60 - 80 links today and

I am running mine today and theres so many to delete :(
Like Plateman I don't want all the surfers finding one in 15 dead links.

Tommy 2005-06-22 10:35 PM

I was just thinking of running mine every hour for the night and tomorrow
maybe like you said its not a good idea... not sure

I just got a report and a lot of sites/gallerys are gone

Hehehe, I've been running mine constantly today and will do so again tomorrow. People shouldn't be pulling pages today and putting them back tomorrow. It should be the opposite. They should hold off until they get the news before comitting business suicide. This is what happens when fear rules the day.

Pusher 2005-06-22 10:38 PM

Since it is likely we will hear something definitive tomorrow afternoon, I will not be deleting any sites until Friday... I think this is the fairest thing to do for all those who have submitted to my LL's ;)

MadMax 2005-06-22 10:46 PM

Well, fuck it...Just ran my bot and over 175 sites dropped in the last 12 hours. Can't have that.

Tommy 2005-06-22 10:48 PM

I dont think its business suicide

for Tb Submiters if you guys wanna pull the stuff then pull it

I simply can't afford to leave up dead links. My sites don't have the history and reputation of yours, Tommy. I won't risk having 100's of redirects pissing off my surfers. In my mind, running the bot and pulling links makes it that much better for those who have decided to weather the storm along with me. I owe no allegience to submitters who redirect my surfers. I have pulled over 1,000 links on Whoring Wives today. Being that its entire archive was just over 8k links this morning, not reacting would have screwed me. :(

A question on the bots.

I have a few banners to pull because some sponsors won't allow foreign WMs to operate as normal. The content will remain, but, it may take awhile to replace the banners.

Is that going to bother the bots much?

RawAlex 2005-06-23 12:37 AM

Bot runs every day. Such is life.

If you take stuff down and put it back up, I will make provision for resubmission. However, there is a time when your stuff is down, I own it to my surfers to present a clean list.

Everyone has business obligations, you take yours I take mine and life will work it all out in the end.

THX, Alex.

But, I was referring to the banners only. Just not sure if the actual scripts will bother noticing that the banner image size went to -1 for a little while.

The actual content will remain unchanged.

RawAlex 2005-06-23 01:03 AM

I can't disclose what my bot can and cannot do. That would be a little too revealing. :)

If I find a site down, it's down and deleted. End of story. I'm not gonna guess if someone is going to put the site back up. However resubmitting is never a problem.

Greenguy 2005-06-23 09:29 AM

Last nights link bot was pretty normal, but MML wants to run one two a day for a little bit just incase.

Yank away - I don't care & you won't be blacklisted, but like others, I don't want surfers getting 404's & 302's all day.

Linkster 2005-06-23 02:43 PM

Greenie - ya might want to have MML run that bot a few more times LOL - mine is finding 100 more an hour going down

Greenguy 2005-06-23 04:23 PM

We did find quite a few that vanished between last night & this morning - paysites included :(

Mishi 2005-06-24 06:34 AM

Ya'll should just use my script. It can delist and relist sites depending on the response code. I proudly de-listed all my own sites just a few hours ago. Yippee for technology!

And...assuming I get at least some of them back up in the next few days, they will be automagically restored the next time the link checker runs.

Yes, the DOJ has made me into a ScriptWhore. You go, DOJ.

(fuckers)
