I could use some advise

hey everyone, I don't post here often but since i'm submitting quite a few freesites lately i figured this is the place i should look for advise.

I think this is my best freesite to date, please advise me as to how to improve, what is wrong, and anything else you can tear apart about my site.

thanks in advance.

Hey there Balls |waves|

Well, let me start off by saying the site is completely acceptable as is |thumb

But, since you asked for a 'tear apart'...lemme put on my xtra critical hat :D

The font color doesn't exactly pop off the page...it's far too close to the bg color. That said, please don't go to the other extreme and use overly contrasting colors that cause pain either...I see way too much of that. However, you DO want the text to be easily legible and kind of jump off the page...especially promo text.

Your google results ( site:domain.com search)...looks a little bit spammy because you've got the exact same titles and descriptions on some of your hub pages. While this in and of itself probably won't get your free sites declined, it can't be doing your serps any good in the long term.

Lastly, all the alt tags on your gallery images are the same. Again, probably isn't going to get free sites declined, but for sure isn't doing you any good in the engines either. Try to always build unique pages...similar in theme, but always unique |thumb

But again as stated in the beginning...I'd list it as is :)

Mr Yum, if you ever write a book, I'll buy it...:D

One question: this site includes a tour to the paysite on the warning entrance page...is that a good idea?

Why not? Tons of sales are made on the index page. Sorry Mr Yum, just had to answer that one :D

Well, I know we have discussed hardcore on the warning page. I have been rejected a few times for having hardcore on the warning page, so I have been leaving it off.

As far as the tour goes, I was afraid it might not be a good idea since you're going directly to hardcore sex before being "warned" |loony|

But you make an excellent point...most of my traffic is on the warning page, and by putting all the goodies inside, I might be missing some sales. I will try the tour thing on the warning page in the future...maybe i'm being too shy...I mean we're selling porn here.

There is no hardcore on that warning page and a link to the tour doesnt constitute hardcore either, sure it leads straight to hardcore but if the surfer gets that far, he is most likely looking for just that

Good answer...good answer!

Thanks for stepping in SheepGuy |thumb

Over time, you'll find the majority of free site sales do indeed come from the warning page. Some lists (not nearly all), do have a no hardcore on the warning page rule. Actually, I used to have the no hardcore rule on an old site...not so the sites I run now.

In any case, that page is your first chance to sell the surfer. It's also your first opportunity to get him warmed up for what's inside...whether that's what's inside your free site, or better still...what's inside the PAY site. That task can definitely be accomplished without hardcore. Actually, you'll find that hot, juicy text is your best friend in this business |thumb

Oh, and thanks for the kudos Luscious...I'll definitely keep that in mind :D

I would just like to add that you need to keep foremost in your mind why you are making these sites. Of course to make money. Just seems so many people lately are focusing more on getting listed than their advertising. Naturally you need to get listed, but don't let your ads fall to the side, after all it's why your here..:)

On another board someone was saying how they could "throw a site" together and make more money than they would if they took lots of time did a good design. Internet bullshit notwithstanding, I thought about that and I wonder if sometimes design gets in the way of sales. I suppose there is a balance...somewhere...where the freesite draws people in and motivates list owners to list, yet gets out of the way and leads the surfer to the sponsor.
