Titan Wins $1.35M Judgment Against MonsterCockTube.com

And another one down. |thumb

I do like this line |catfight|
Without income streams adult tube sites cannot survive,” he added. “With income streams they become liable for the content they are profiting from. Doesn’t sound like a very good position to be in these days.”

A U.S. District Court has awarded Titan Media more than $1.35 million in damages from a tube-site operator whose users infringed the gay adult studio’s intellectual property rights.

In addition, Judge Maxine M. Chesney issued a permanent injunction barring Antelope Media LLC and its owners, representatives and subsidiaries from making any further infringing use of Titan’s property to line their own pockets with advertising revenues and membership fees.

Yea good luck collecting. However, at least it's a win on the books for proper content holders, etc.

The idiots should have sued them in a court in any country that is a member of the EU, that way it would be relatively easy to get the money, as they (the owners of Antelope Media LLC) are citizens of an EU country (Germany). But since they sued them in a US court, all they have to do to avoid paying is never go back to the US.

My understanding is they didn't even defend the suit. The real test will be Pink Visual's suit against Mansef which is being defended and will be soon at trial.

The billion $$$ Viacom vs. Youtube should be interesting as well. They have copies of the owners emails talking about how they were personally uploading copyright content. |catfight|

But somebody said that the dumbass Yanks only have a 3 year statute of limitation for copyrights. |loony|

When you break copyright on the Internet you are doing so in all countries, so if the statute of limitations has run out in one country, sue them in one that does not have the same statute of limitations.

The problem here is not the "dumbass Yanks" 3 year statute of limitation, it is the "dumbass Yanks" inability to realise that some things may be better outside the USA, and sometimes it is better to take your business abroad, rather that assume America is best in all things.

I wonder if, during the proceedings, the Judge or any of her cronies in the courtroom, actually pronounced the words "monstercocktube"....

:D

That at least is complicated by a number of 'unclean hands' (Viacom employees uploading content) issues. The porn producers here are at least clean : )

What Viacom employees did has no bearing on the issue, and is just smoke & mirrors. If I upload a clip to a tube, that does not give the tube the right to go and upload every clip I have without permission. |catfight|

The bottom line is that the Youtube owners were uploading content illegally, were aware it was illegal, were making money from it's use, and Viacom has evidence showing it. |club|
