Link-o-rama change

I visited LOR for ages on daily-weekly basis since I somehow liked the honest and direct approach to the porn surfer, never been into freesites myself to submit anything.

Noticed the recent change of the site and I can't say I like it, previous portal-alike concept was much more appealing than this, now it's more like 2001->1996 degrade than anything close to 2010.

wow, if you arn't into free sites then why are you there?
i like the way LOR looks now, it freshens the place up a bit in my opinion...i just surfed it to see if what you said made any sense and it didn't...
small layout changes is all really...everything was direct, easy to find and nothing misleading...and gives GG an honest chance at displaying ads for the surfers to choose(which in truth is why we all build sites..to make the money, not to give away shit)
and i havn't seen a traffic drop that's noticable from it...in fact the past couple of weeks i've noticed a holiday spike in traffic...looks like i'll easily break a million+ surfer mark again this month
and i do submit free sites there pretty much daily..

anyway that's my 2 cents on it..
as a webmaster it doesn't bother me in the least, so I really don't know what the big deal is about it..i think it's good to change a few things around from time to time, i know i do on my internal tgps, link hubs, and blogs...

It's actually easier to navigate now. Very straight forward.

The bottom line is the bounce rate is down, which means more traffic to the links :)

Which means that building fs is even more profitable now.

People made good fucking money back then, what's degraded is the paychecks. Part of the reason has been everyone trying to re-invent the wheel and fix a business that wasn't broken.
All of that is understandable and was unavoidable given human nature and our competitive spirit. Also it's unchangeable now without a time machine.
But I get a kick out of wankers slamming old school porn. There's nothing wrong with an old school approach, that's what's kept most of us in business for so many years.
I loved it when some guy told me a couple of years ago that my LL looked like it had been designed in the 70's ;)

Looks fine to me :)

LOL, good point. People criticize sites that do not look modern saying they're "so 1990" or whatever. Hell, that's when people made money!

Just because I like to back things up with numbers, here's some :)

1 - people that arrived at the site after searching the word "greenguy" went from a bounce rate of 18% to 10%

2 - top 3 hard link traffic sources bounce rates went from:
A - 31% to 23%
B - 30% to 23%
C - 16% to 11%

3 - main page info:
A - bounce rate went from 33% to 21%
B - page views increased 34%
C - Avg time on site increased 20%

Based on those numbers alone, I think the new design for the index & main pages are a great success :)

The new pages look great IMO.

Those numbers look even better Greenie. I hope sales are up too :)

Greenguy 2010-12-28 12:42 PM

I wish sales were up - lol

But the main goal of the changes was to get more people to stay on the site & get to the links. Extra sales would just be a bonus :)

Those bounce rate numbers are pretty good . When a surfer clicks on a link or an ad isn't that counted as a bounce.

I think it's considered a bounce if they leave the page they entered thru without clicking any internal links.
