Streaming - No Download Sites

Hi
Could really use your help.

What is the cheapest yet effective system for streaming only, no downloads, membership site?

A friend is wanting to open his own site of Japanese pink movies. System will be a netflix model. Low monthly cost to consumer, starts with 100 or so movies and adds 1-2 a week.

Any thoughts?

Sometimes the cheapest isn't actually the most cost-effective.

If your friend only intends to copy Netflix's payment model without mimicking the user experience, it'll be hard to gain traction with users who've grown to expect certain things to work particular ways.

Now if your friend wants a Netflix-like user experience for watching videos, the thing to look into is adaptive bitrate streaming. Here's a link to an article with some information about that.

While it may cost more to implement, there are savings in bandwidth to offset that cost, since videos don't have to download in full. Plus the difference in the experience of watching a video, for the user, can make or break a new site.

Keep in mind that anything displayed on a computer screen can by captured if a person tries hard enough.

It's a fine line between annoying your members so much that they don't stay a member and keeping your videos locked down.

Netflix uses Silverlight on the desktop and a dedicated mobile app on phone/tablets.

Places like AEBN serves up DRM protected files that have to be authenticated by their server each time they are played.

I cannot help you with your original question, but if your friend sets up the site with either dubbed or subtitled (into English) films, I will probably be able to supply them with one customer!

Netflix uses MPEG-DASH streaming technology. You will need an html5 video player (or make one with JS) that utilizes this. Such as Silverlight ;) some kind of streaming server on a cdn or rpm server. There are services such as wowza and a few I forget the names of. Or All in one hosting solutions like Red Apple Media, AdultCentro, etc. Ask your host if they have a streaming solution, Anything worthwhile likely has some sort of DRM these days.

I have been researching this very same issue. Still as a startup I am not 100% sure. Likely I will setup Kaltura on an RPM server, or wowza and flowplayer...

Our newest site J Porn Access is steaming only. It works ok

The simplest and probably cheapest method would be to use a tube script for the members area. People are so used to streaming porn, that I'm not sure the newest generation even realizes that porn movies used to be downloaded and saved for future "use."

The highest rebill-rate I have comes from a site with streaming only.

Excellent, excellent. AFAIK all the videos will subbed/dubbed into English with possible French and Spanish. Subtitling can be expensive but has to be done in this case.

I am not surprised in a way. if you have excellent content in great quality that appeals to a targeted niche I would think it would do really well.

It's difficult for my friends company because each update is 60 minutes plus. I am not sure how many movies he has overall but the number does keep growing.

That's good news. We are just hoping to tap into the porn(ish) markets. I am trying to convince the rights holder to go with a low monthly cost to keep people re-billing forever.

We are being reffed to mechbunny. Do any of you guys use it?

My question to everyone here is could you sell such a service? it won't be a hodgepodge of videos but a specific genre.

An example is if you Google -- Japanese Wife Next Door or look at his site pinkeiga.com

I would buy into a monthly thing if the price is right. My own self-test for say, Netflix, how much do I get? How much to rent individually, how much to go to theatre etc... if the site falls below those cost thresholds and it is content I can see viewing 1-3 times a week...I would go for it.

You say, "ok". Is that because Heyzo is "killing it" as the best Japanese porn site ever? Even in Japan that site is making it man. You guys put out the BEST AV available in the kaigai (foreign) markets and in the top 1-3 inside Japan I believe.

Are your users more into streaming or is download still "the thing"??

Your plan... is big bucks on start-up cost?

To DRM or not to...I'm still thinking since these are features maybe will be ok if they cannot download.

So far the upload monkeys have only been using the videos in question on youtube to point back to their theft sites.

Are all of your members sites stream and download?

Say, if you started a membership site featuring shemale and related full length (60 minutes plus) videos how would you handle it? Are there many features that are shemale themed? or have big elements relating to the sex? I'm talking underground cinema of course.

That is a super helpful link. I think his planned experience is for the member to sign in. See whats new and then pick a movie to watch based on theme or actors. He is also working direct with studios so he'll have photo content, special give aways, (i.e. autographs, special photos, invites to events with stars in attendance...) I wish adult could do more in the way of "add-ons" for collectors or avid fans like comicon peeps.

You may want to look into KVS. http://www.kernel-video-sharing.com/...es/#memberzone

JAI-LING 2014-06-05 02:21 PM

What do you guys think of this service?

http://www.streamingvideoprovider.com/

My friend just got back from Israel raring to go and he is trying to sell himself on the service above. Apparently he is locked into authorize.net if he uses them.

Any feedback?

These are features. Like 60 minutes plus each. Porny but not porn.
