Your colors are so dark on your site that the links can't be seen.

Hmmm... Maybe my eyes just pick up the contrast a little differently than you, and maybe others see it. I guess I could tweak the css file to lighten them some, but on all my monitors they're pretty much the way I thought they'd look.

Are the links too dark for you to list the site?

I thought you had forgotten to put gallery links on your pages until I looked at the source code.

Are you using your Mac without ever calibrating your display? I ask because Apple ships with everything super bright from back in the days that we used CRTs and they would dim over time.

Can anyone else see the gallery links on Simon's site without first mouse overing them?

Simon 2010-07-17 10:34 AM

Is it just the gallery links that are too dark? I thought you meant all of the links. I usually turn down the brightness a shade or two on the gallery links compared to the links to sponsors. So I can certainly lighten them a little if that's a problem.

I did calibrate the screen on my MacBook Pro, and it's about the same view as on my external ViewSonic monitor, my older PowerBook, and my Toshiba notebook running Windows.

But I'll lighten the gallery links if the feedback is they're too hard to see...for the poor surfers who need their free porn spoon fed to them. :)

I can see the index page links, barely.

I approved it...

JustRobert 2010-07-17 11:18 AM

I see them without issue in the screen print above.

weird: I don't see the links unless I scroll over them, but I still approved it, cause your Simon |waves|

Interesting...and good idea.

Yeah that is what I see. Once I knew where to hunt for the gallery links I could find them by mousing over them.

I Can See Them ...But Very Dark None The Less.

I just upped the brightness a little on the gallery links and on the recip links too, since those looked darker than I meant them to be. Also made the gallery links bold so they should be easier to find/see.

Looks great. :)

And it isn't due to anything that I may have indulged in this morning. |potleaf|

Actually I can see them fine in the screenshot, and even better on the site itself (course Simon already tweaked that)

My office is pretty bright today. I really need to get blinds for the windows one day. Brightens of a room affects the range of contrast that can be seen.

Back when I did color correction at a print shop we worked in very dark rooms.

I often do reviews while still in bed and the room is pretty dark but today I did reviews in my office which gets the morning sun beaming in so bright that I feel like I'm getting a tan.

So I recalibrated my monitor after seeing that I only saw 15 of the 16 steps on this greyscale and based on this image my monitor should have a lower gammer than what I've been using, at least in bright light.

Now that I've recalibrated my Apple 30" LCD I can actually see the gallery links on the screen shot that I posted now although they are still very dark.

I'm going to check again after my office is dark as I prefer to work in a very dark room.

On a side note I guess I really should get around to putting blinds in my office's windows as I've been saying that I need to for over 20 years now.

Sometimes there are good reasons for doing things in the dark. |whisper|
