Valuation/Venues for site sales?

I have been pondering selling off some sites ... but I struggle to find out how to valuate sites in any reasonable way - and it seems tedious to start talking GFY crowds about sales with all the nonsense and drama that always follows.

Anyone have any good clues?

Depends on the site. Pay sites are worth more than free sites, meaning months/years of income. If the site makes $1000/month and has for 5 years then it's worth more than a site that makes $1000/month for only the past 5 months.

Typically 6 months to a year, more if long term income can be proven. It's almost always worth keeping over selling if the monthly income will stay roughly the same unless of course it make 5 digits and can warrant a lot via sale.

Its easier to accumulate than downsize in a reasonable way ... it shouldnt come as a surprise looking at the hoarding bonanza in my barns :D Are there better venues than GFY to find buyers?

I dont know if you know Bruce Friedman over at Adult Site Broker. He is on xbiz a lot. He can probably help you. I know he also has a board where users can auction their sites off. If he picks up your sites he'll send them out on his mailing list. I understand he does fairly well.

He's also a HUGE FUCKING ASSHOLE but that's just my opinion :D

Bruce does well but mostly higher end sites but never hurts to check his board (which I didn't know he had one lol)

I didnt know either until he told me recently. He may be willing to give Hincapie some advice or places to check value or ???

He's looking for people for his podcast program if you are interested, Ramster. I am sure he would want to interview you. You have some great sites.

We dont do any biz together. He was one of the first people I met at Internext back in 2005 or so.

I've had a few sites listed at Sedo and GoDaddy for awhile now but no bites. I think it has something to do with how they market their listed sites.

Valuation isn't something I'm knowledgeable enough to comment on, however.

Didnt know Juicy ads owned broker...that should give them access to alot of webmasters at least

Let us know how that goes. I used to let domains expire until I see people picking them up. I think these days, domaining is sort of dead. The best thing you can do is make a domain into something with traffic THEN sell it. |coffee
