I did finish Happy and it was quirky and funny but the subject matter, even though I knew it was heading that way, always leaves me uneasy.

Greenguy 2019-03-04 07:36 AM

I watch Fyre: The Greatest party That Never Happened and Holy Fuck! Good doc |thumb

JustRobert 2019-03-06 12:42 PM

I finished The Umbrella Academy and it was enjoyable. I actually wished there were more episodes to watch.

The Ken Jeong comedy special was pretty good as well.

JustRobert 2019-03-08 09:32 AM

I binged the whole season of Russian Doll yesterday (only 8 half hour episodes) and liked this one as well.

Greenguy 2019-03-08 10:00 AM

I have soooooooooo many shows to watch.......

My queue keeps getting longer so I get all |banana| when I get to remove one :D

ArtWilliams 2019-03-08 12:40 PM

Except for Star Trek Discovery, I just noticed that all the Star Trek series are on Netflix (Canada). I am watch one.

Greenguy 2019-03-09 08:41 AM

Netflix |spam|ed me yesterday about a new Ricky Gervais series called After Life (6 30 minute episodes - damn Brits |angry|) & my chiro has been bugging me to watch a doc called Abducted In Plain Sight so those are on the top of today's agenda.

I did not get that spam so I went in an added that one and notice they also just added Formula 1 Drive To Survive so added that one too.

This leads to my problem. I just removed 2 from my queue last night as we watched Christopher Robins (exactly what I expedted) and Mowgli (better than expected) last night.

Also watch Kevin Hart's Black History (learned some new things) yesterday at lunch so actually my queue did drop by 1.

Greenguy 2019-03-10 10:12 AM

We didn't get to After Life, but we did watch Abducted In Plain Sight and just WOW!! I won't ruin it (it's obviously about a kidnapping) so just trust me when I say |thumb|thumb

We then finally watched the 2nd 10 episodes of Making A Murderer. I say finally because it came out in October & I remember watching the 1st 10 right after it came out around Xmas 2015. If you're like I was going in, they address all the stuff you heard they left out of the 1st 10 & his new lawyer debunks EVERYTHING they have on him & bring up 2 other pairs of suspects (not in detail, but there's definitely questions there).

It was a loooooooong day on the couch :D

JustRobert 2019-03-11 09:04 PM

I binged After Life and I liked it as it made me |lol| and |cry| as it deals with death from cancer and suicide, so be forewarned.

Maybe it just hit a little to close to home for me.

It was great, I really like Ricky Gervais. Pretty dark and rude though.

It even made me cry a bit and every guitar-player with a cronic, progressive, muscle/skeleton disease got my sympathy.
The Dirt was a good film, that's for sure.
(I somehow missed Tommy Lee marrying Heather Locklear.

We have to be about the same age (48). Shout At The Devil came out when I was 12 & I remember my mother saying she wouldn't buy it for me because |satan| so when I was out shopping with my aunt & she said I could buy any tape I wanted....needless to say I fell in love with it, then found Too Fast For Love & fell in love with that (even though Tommy Lee's overuse of the cowbell doesn't really hold up today lol). I know my music got "heavier" around 85 when I heard Ride The Lightning, but you gotta admit, they had some great songs with awesome riffs thru the years. I mean, how can you not like the 1st 45 seconds of Dr Feelgood and again from 2:53 to 3:33:

(Mick Mars is very underrated)

I know they're a "hair band" but they were easily the heaviest out of all of them. Go listen to: Wild Side, Kickstart My Heart, even Primal Scream - all heavy & crunchy |headbang|

|whisper|I know it's not "cool" to like them, but I'm here to tell you it's ok :D

JustRobert 2019-03-22 10:16 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing The Dirt but forgot it came out and also caught up in the following below.

Today I binged thru Extras with Ricky Gervais that made me |lol| a number of times each episode. This helped with the funk :D

I also have watched/binged a couple of kids cartoon shows over the past week in thanks to my grandson:
3Below & Trollhunters
Actually found them to be entertaining enough to watch while working on a laptop.

I remember watching that when it was on HBO and|lol|

JustRobert 2019-03-26 11:29 AM

I finally added The Dirt to my queue and noticed a new season of The OA.

Decided to watch an episode of OA instead of the movie cause I wanted to go back to my office after lunch figuring that would only be 45 to 60 minutes but ended up watching 6 episodes. 2 more to go which I'll do today :D

JustRobert 2019-03-27 12:45 PM

Finished OA and thought it was still really good though some parts were a bit wonky. Also sets itself up for a third season though it has not been renewed as of yet.

Hehe, I am 4 or 5 years older than you, which kinda makes a difference at that age. I was really narrow when it came to music. Heavy-wise I liked Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Later I also fell in love with Dio's two first albums, remember I saw him in 85, drunk as a skunk. I started early |loony|.
Judas Priest is still a huge band for me.

Me and some of my friends used to make fun of Looks that Kill by playing it on guitar and making fun of the lyrics. But to be honest, I think we all loved that riff in silence. It's a killer riff, I'll give you that.

I have The Dirt but hasn't come around to read it yet.
I enjoyed the movie and as I said, any guitarist with challenges like that is OK in my book. I didn't know Vince lost his daughter and "killed" his friend either. So I have a bit more sympathy for the band now.
I was a bit disappointed that Pamela Anderson wasn't featured :-p

I'm a huge fan of US Office, seen it four times or so. I'm also a huge fan of Gervais, but I haven't actually seen the original yet.
I ordered the DVD's on Amazon and I'm on episode two now.
I like it a lot and I'm looking forward to The Extras as well, I ordered that in the same order.

That is true because Yell (my brother-in-law) is 4 years older than me & I know he never really got into groups like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Ratt & whoever else was a new & popular metal band in the early/mid 80's. He's not even really a fan of Metallica |crazy|

Greenguy 2019-03-29 11:10 AM

We did finally watch The Dirt last night and all I can say is |headbang|

...and that Mick Mars calling the other 3 singer, bass player & drummer made me|lol|

Greenguy 2019-04-01 08:18 AM

The Bitch & I watched The Ted Bundy Tapes which was really good seeing as I was a wee lad when that all happened.

JustRobert 2019-04-04 01:49 PM

Finally watched The Dirt yesterday and it brought back many memories. Seeing the marquee shots around Hollywood at that time reminded me of all the bands that I saw back then in the clubs before their record deals. Overall, I liked it.

Also binged on Love, Death & Robots which is a bunch of animated shorts of varying kinds. All episidoses are between 5 and 18 minutes I believe so it was easy to sit there and go "i'll watch one more" kinda binge. This was pretty good and some of the animations were impressive.

Greenguy 2019-04-05 10:59 AM

I actually re-watched The Dirt yesterday & then got a couple of the albums I was missing on iTunes |headbang|

Greenguy 2019-04-10 07:15 AM

I went down a really interesting rabbit hole yesterday...

It started with History's Greatest Hoaxes which kinda stunk, but 1 episode was on the radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds by Orson Welles in 1938. This has always fascinated me because I actually remember being told about it 1st hand by my great grandmother when I was a kid (I don't know/remember if she actually heard the broadcast or just remembered the aftermath).

That reminded me that I had They'll Love Me When I'm Dead about Orson Welles' last unfinished film The Other Side Of The Wind, so I watched that & it was really fucking interesting.

When it finished, Netflix suggested the actual movie The Other Side Of The Wind, as Peter Bogdanovich (star & friend) and others had recently finished the movie for Welles & WOW! Not the kind of movie that I'd normally watch, but fuck me! Awesome movie!! (I do recommend watching the doc 1st because I think it helps make sense of things)

After that I searched Orson Welles in Netflix & among the results was One Day Since Yesterday, a documentary about the Bogdanovich movie They All Laughed which starred Audrey Hepburn, Ben Gazzara, John Ritter, and Dorothy Stratten. Stratten, who was estranged from her abusive husband at the time, and Bogdanovich fell in love during the filming of the movie. She was killed shortly after filming finished by her husband in a murder/suicide. It's a great heartfelt doc.

So now I'm on this quest to watch (or rewatch) movies by Orson Welles, Peter Bogdanovich, Wes Anderson, and a couple other directors that were featured as I went down this wonderful rabbit hole |thumb

I had Love, Death & Robots in my queue because of Netflix |spam|ing me & some were good, some were ok, and some sucked big hairy horse balls. What I hated was that the ones I really liked were way too short: Three Robots (11 min), When The Yogurt Took Over (6 min), and Alternative Histories (7 min) were my Top 3.

JustRobert 2019-04-18 01:41 PM

I finally got around to watching The Innocents, Greenie had mentioned this one, and found it better than I thought it would be. Actually binged the whole thing yesterday while on my laptop.

JustRobert 2019-04-20 01:26 PM

Watched The Silence and finally Bird Box over the past couple of days.

Bird Box was much better IMO but I do like Stanley Tucci so The Silence was pretty good.

jollyhumper 2019-04-20 02:04 PM

I'm a huge Formula-1 fan and the F1 documentary series is really good.
(I like Nascar and Indy too, so don't shoot me)

The Dirt was really good |thumb Haven't had time to try and binge any TV shows recently.

I wish I could do that, but I always miss "something" in series or movies. For years, it was Opie & Anthony 24/7 because they replayed the morning show all day long, meaning I could pretty much get everything. Now it's CNN which is kinda the same news over & over, but that just |facepalm|

The worst part: I can barely pay attention to |hockey| while on the clock for |bow| Ramster |couch|

ArtWilliams 2019-04-22 11:38 AM

It was cheaper to get Amazon Prime for a month than to pay for the shipping on a couple of items I bought last week. As a result, I am watching Prime.

There was a series on Fox and now rerunning on Prime called Monk -- starring Tony Shalhoub. He plays a quirky detective with a number of aliments including OCD. At 43 minutes a episode, it's perfect for the treadmill plus, with eight seasons, there are a lot of episodes to keep me going. I just watched one episode and it looks okay so I'll keep watching it for now.

ArtWilliams 2019-04-23 10:39 AM

I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson -- on Netflix. It came out today. Apparently, he's the guy from "Detroiters" which I've never heard of before.

It's a sketch comedy show with weird sometimes scatological humour. It made me burst out laughing.

If it is something I really like then not much work gets done OR I only watch it during lunch and/or dinner breaks so I can pay attention to everything. When that happens I'm only seeing 1 or 2 episodes a day.

But there is a lot of stuff out there to watch that is just ok/good but not great where you don't need to pay attention visually to understand what is happening but I want to see how the story plays out. If need be just rewind the good/important parts.

Greenguy 2019-04-29 07:38 AM

We finished watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (S4 was well worth it) & then watched The Highwaymen about the 2 Texas lawmen that hunted down & killed Bonnie & Clyde. Decent movie (really good for a Netflix Original)

JustRobert 2019-04-30 10:00 AM

The Highwaymen was in my queue so I decided to watch it yesterday while having lunch. I really liked it.

Greenguy 2019-05-05 08:39 AM

The Bitch & I started watching S6 of Orange Is The New Black which I heard was a dud, but so far we both like it. May try to finish it today.
