First time in the history of the board, most number of people online. that's a great start to the new year! Plus 8 new members so far today!

Nothing is artificially inflated you dumb ass. If only 1 person came back a day the numbers would drop in a day, obviously people come back past 24 hrs if the stats show up. If no one comes back after 24 hours the numbers would be zero, but let me go find a 2nd grade math book to help explain.

Wow, I guess you put me in my place. You could always set the cookies to the default and get a real count and people will still not have to log in again unless they click log out.

All I am doing is giving you the reason for the high numbers. You admit to having the cookies set to 24 hours and that is the reason for the numbers.

Here is a few more things I have noticed.

You claim to have over 7000 members and yet, a new member did not sign up for 40 hours after Greenguy did. Quick calculation tells me that you would have to get about 116 people/day signing up to reach that 7000 member mark. But, let's make a big deal out of 8 in one day, shall we? Also, looking at your calendar, a very small percentage of your alleged members have birthdays listed. Conversely, all other boards run at about 80-90 percent of its members listing birthdays.

You also claim that some of your threads have over 40,000 views. But, when I hit a thread and hit reload several times, the count does not go up. Again, other boards are not setup that way. The “only” reason to do that is that you must edit the database by hand several times/day to artificially inflate certain thread views.

I heard that you claim to have a lot of traffic going to this board. I also heard that you claim that sponsorchat is number 2 behind GFY. While Alexa may not be the most accurate instrument to read traffic, it is pretty close. You have no PR at all. You have 11 Backlinks and are currently ranked 481,821. To put this into perspective, GreenguyandJim, my board, has a PR of 5, 107 Backlinks and is currently ranked 23,299. Looking at the real number 2 site behind GFY, *******, you can see they have a PR of 6, 241 Backlinks and are ranked 11,480.

I understand that you are new to this business and probably don’t know any better. This is a terrible way to start. Just set the “Timeout for Cookies” to the default. Let the numbers add up for themselves. Delete all the bogus members and be honest. It probably is not too late.

I am really just trying to give you some good advice.

No I do NOT edit the database by hand, could be because when you edit the "footer" of the script, you can screw it up.

But that's called good marketing and negotiating.

Nobody set me up. I am a fellow board owner that cares about the webmaster resource business. You have given no good reason for any of the facts that I stated.

Answer: This is the reason for the high online member count. You were the one saying at no time in history did your board have that many people. Well, it still has not happened and will not happen.

Answer: You still need to have had 116 members/day signing up to reach 7000 members. Before today, the big holiday it took 40 hours for a new member after Greenguy.

No I do NOT edit the database by hand, could be because when you edit the "footer" of the script, you can screw it up.

Answer: The footer has nothing to do with the mysql database that needs to be edited to change the views.

Answer: Like I said...Alexa is not 100% accurate but, it give a good general idea. And for your links...I would guess that at the very most, you get 50 visitors/day from them. I could be off but not by more that 25 plus or minus.

Greenguy joined for the exact same reason I did. We wanted to look around to see how your were inflating the numbers.

As for being jealous...I have worked exclusively in this business since 1996. What would I be jealous of?

When you lie about the numbers your board gets, you hurt the Webmaster Resource Business as a whole. Some sponsors may start to believe your claims and once burned by a Board, will be afraid to trust another. This is why I care about what you do. I love this business and you are hurting it.

Just like "Greenguy" who joined doesn't post, I don't nor want to make anyone who joins login or post asshole.

I forgot that part. The board software doesn't work that way. Once you logon, you can post until you click log off. So either you have no idea how this software works or you are dishonest. Which is it? I think by you giving that as a reason to set the cookies for 24 hours, it is a little of both.

Well let me teach you a few things, once you come to the board with the vBulletin script, you show up as logged in or a guest (whether you are a non-registered member or a member who has't logged in or a member who has logged in). In all 3 cases if you don't come back in 24 hours you will be bumped off, that's called a cookie.

Lets address this statement "So either you have no idea how this software works or you are dishonest"

I did read the online manual, I set the cookies to 24 hours, that's a fact, and YES I do know how the script works, and NO I am NOT dishonest.

Just realize this, if no one came back after 24 hours the stats would go down to zero, if our stas are increasing it means we have new blood comming in to the site less than every 24 hours.

You are probably right and I am probably wrong. I have only been running boards using some form of this software for the last 4 years or so...what the hell do I know?

I'm not wrong and wouldn't want any of the few people reading this thinking I am. The "Timeout for Cookie" is only used to let people know who is "truly" online. It has absolutely nothing to do with posting or logging in. If you did not visit this board for a week, month or year, you would still be able to post without logging in as long as you did not click log out.

Keep going though...the more you post, the less dishonest I think you are. If it wasn't for the bogus members and inflated views and lies about traffic, I just might think you don't know the software.

Look, this started out by me just trying to explain why your biggest day in history was so big. Just take my advice and be honest. That is the only way you will last in this business.
