Top Five Productivity Tips Revisited!

Sometimes there are things that are worth posting twice. About a year ago Jim put this tip and trick in the newsletter.

5. Invest in a good chair
The chair you are sitting in is possibly the most important piece of your equipment. If you work 8 hours a day (many webmasters do over 10) you spend as much time sitting in your chair than laying in your bed!

4. Learn at least one thing you didn’t know before every day
Take time to read one new article related to the industry. As you absorb more and more knowledge many related tasks will take you less and less time.

3. Make task/to-do lists, and stick to them!
This has been told over and over again yet not many people actually do it. Make a list of things you need/must/want to do for every day, week, month and even year. Then every day (week etc respectively) start by doing the first thing on the list and move to the next only after you have completed it.

2. Set small, realistic goals and upon accomplishing them - reward yourself!
If you plan realistically you are much more likely to achieve the planned goals in a timely fashion. When you do so, reward yourself! For small things, treat yourself to something small. For big things, such as your 6 month goal, reward yourself with something big.

1. If you can’t be the best at what you do, do what you are best at
Don’t do things you can’t do well. Don’t try selling design services if you aren’t very artistic, don’t blog about gay sex if you're not gay. Some niches can pay better, have more traffic looking for them, seem easier to pull off etc. but nothing good will come out if you need to force yourself to do every little thing about those projects. Not everyone can do everything well, stick to what you can and what you love and you will be much more productive!
