Banking and the Adult Business

Several months ago, I was told by our bank that "It would be in the best interest of both parties if we went our separate ways". It was a Saturday when I received the letter but, I tried to find out why. I was told by most that they had no idea why. One bank officer told me that it was because I used Epassporte. For some reason, I just didn't believe him. I was finally able to ask the "Security Officer" for a reason. He never gave me one. I had thought that it was just because we used a small town bank and they didn't like the business I was in.

And then yesterday, I read this from ARS.
"After 5+ years of using LaSalle Bank for our banking needs, they have decided that they no longer want our business.

I was given less than 2 months to find another bank and get set up to use them. I have done this and expect to use the new bank this week for payout. LaSalle Bank has now decided that they will completely shut down the accounts on 12/12/06, meaning they will no longer accept any deposits, or, more importantly, any checks written from these accounts. This means that if you have a commission check written from LaSalle bank, you must cash it before 12/12/06 or it will be returned to you.

If you don't get your checks cashed before 12/12/06, please do not submit them to your bank. Send them back to the office and a new check from the new bank will be issued to you.

I apologize for this whole mess. I was completely stunned when I was informed that they no longer wanted Innovative as a customer. I would say they have made hundreds of thousands of dollars from us over the years. I guess they are no longer in business to make money."

So, I am curious, are banking institutions closing our accounts because they don't like the business we are in? Or, is there a reason I can't think of right now?
