The Summer Slowdown Seems to be Slowing Down
Every year since my first newsletter in 1998, around this time I have warned of the dreaded Summer Slowdown. But, even the summer slowdown seems to be slowing down.

Up until last year, every webmaster and every program owner I talked to told me that the slowdown was in full force. It wasn't hard to figure out, people just had better things to do during the summer. And, students going to college no longer had long nights in their dorm room with nothing to do but surf for porn. But, for those of us that look at such things noticed, it wasn't as bad last year as the year before.

I suppose we can blame it on Global Warming but let's try to figure out the real reason. US colleges are still out for the summer and families are still going on vacation or just don't want to stay inside when the sun is shining. But, if last summer is any indication of what this summer brings, it's not going to be too bad. This is the week we all should notice the drop in sales. If you want to narrow it down a little more, today should be the first day you see less sales than last Tuesday.

I think things have started to even out. We are far away from the heyday of 1 dollar/month for 1 hit/day. Or, if you received 10,000 visitors/day, you probably made $10,000/month. By the way, back in the day, if you received 10,000 visitors/day, you were doing very well. That was a very long time ago. But, today it's harder to make money in this business than it has ever been. The people that buy memberships really want to buy memberships to a paysite. It is almost like, a few years ago the summer slowdown hit and never really went away. So, with things evening out, the people that wanted to buy a paysite membership a month ago, still want to buy a membership today. it's not that the slowdown has gone away, it's that the business itself slowed down and never really bounced back. And, we really can't count on past statistics anymore.

Have a Great Day!
Greenguy and Jim
