Traffic Pumps/TGP's: Building Webmaster Submissions
Making the webmaster money is done by adding in a
significant amount of Search Engine traffic. Since Search Engine traffic
converts best the webmasters will want to submit to your TGP. One of the most
difficult aspects of making money with TGP traffic for most webmasters is to
realize that less is more. In other words, that they don't need tons of banners
and text links. On a gallery with fresh pictures and good layout they only need
one or two links and they WILL get conversions. Once you have the submissions
thinking like this they stay with you forever.
Where can we find these webmasters? Everywhere! Just as in
any business you have to advertise and market your site. Not to just the Search
Engines, Link Sites ( Tommy's
Bookmarks, GreenGuy, RichardsRealm,
etc.) or Top Lists.
One good source of advertising is a banner exchange. Banner
Overdrive is one such banner exchange. This is a good example of how to
reach webmasters that you wouldn't otherwise reach. You can market/advertise
your site on pay sites, free hosts, content providers, and countless others.
Another prime resource is the Webmaster Boards. Go to some of the more
popular boards (GreenguyandJim, YNOT, etc.) and create
relationships with the regulars by offering advice and/or information. We all
have something to share with others.
Once you have been established for a while with good traffic you will
find yourself on all types of submit lists and tools also. If you are
making webmasters money they usually list you toward the top of these tools and
lists.
There are also webmaster chat sites where you can create one on one
relationships if that's more your style. There are many of these sites for you
to choose from, just type in a search and check them out. One of my personal
favorites is GreenGuy and Jims radio show on Tuesday night. In conjunction with
their live broadcast they hold chats where you can connect with webmasters.
In addition to chat sites and other one-on-one forums for creating
relationships with webmasters you may want to consider attending one of the many
webmaster conferences. They are one prime source for connecting with the
successful webmasters you need to submit to your TGP. The number of conventions
and locations are growing each year. Check the webmaster boards for dates and
locations.
Once you have a fairly large pool of good webmaster submits
word-of-mouth will increase you submissions even more. Creating a large pool of
good submissions is done by sending traffic that converts. Remember that making
the webmaster money makes you money.
