Link Swaps
Swapping Links (also known as reciprocal link exchanges) with other sites is often a good way to generate more traffic to your web site.
Here are some hints on getting best results with this method of promotion:
1. Try to swap links with sites with a related theme or audience to yours.
2. Try to swap links only with high quality sites.
3. For good results you will need many link swaps - a handful is not enough.
4. If you approach other sites about swapping links - write to them personally (mentioning a few details about their site, and perhaps a compliment), place the link on your site first, and be polite. Also don't expect an immediate answer - swapping links may be your priority, but it may be a 'background' activity for the other webmasters.
5. Add a page to your site, saying that you will swap links, who you will swap with, and where their link will be shown.
6. Check that other sites that say they link to you - really do. If they don't - don't get angry - just remove their link from your site.
7. Don't try and cheat other sites out of link-backs - not only is it impolite and unethical - but you will get caught - most will be checking on you.
