Wordpress 5.0 Rolls Out Tomorrow

If you've got Wordpress sites then you might want to back them up. Tomorrow, version 5.0 rolls out. This is especially important if they auto update. Stop before it happens!

My sites run on cPanel. Becase of this, I can choose the version of PHP that a particular site runs. I have at least 2 sites that I know can't run on new Wordpress which no longer uses PHP 5. Work for me!

Thanks for the heads up, I will take a round and disable.
I don't want auto-update, but some sites have that anyway. Probably me not paying attention.

I also forgot about one blog (my main private blog actually) but today I got a message it was automatically updated to 4.9.9 and a note that 5.0 was available? Good thing since I can turn off the automatic, strange since I don't understand why that particular blog was not updated to 5.0

I installed a 5.0.2 blog yesterday I'm working on.
So far nothing has happened, but way to early to conclude ...

From what I can see the only big change is the editor. I am undecided as to whether I like it or not.

I used the new editor on one site, seems pretty obvious. But I hear it causes conflicts with some plugins.

A lot of my sites I use Divi to get a visual editor. Maybe I can retire that if the new WP editor is good enough.

Less layers, less things to go wrong.

It broke yoast. You can always use a plug-in rollback or a wp version rollback plug in if needed.

I guess Yoast will be updated pretty soon.
It's a widely used plugin ...

At least lets hope so, I would hate to start to use to many new plugins

Yes I'd expect Yoast to fix that quickly.

Meanwhile my Akismet key on one site just got suspended! Not many of my sites allow comments, but on those that do spam is annoying.

Any suggestions to replace Akismet for free?

Oh and the sites just got pushed to 5.0.3 !!
